Another loss

Just read on Facebook that Colleen (Cafewoman53) passed on Friday.  My condolences to her family.  We joined this site around the same time in 2010.  We became Facebook friends as well.  I was blindsided by this.  I didn't know she was that ill.  We have lost most of the ladies I met here when I first joined.  I am overwhelmed by sadness but am also so scared.  I have been dealing with this for six years.  Lately that seems to be the turning point for a lot of women.  Not many who have recurrent cancer seem to survive much beyond that.  I am in the "waiting for the other shoe to drop" phase as I call it.  My count is rising again.  God I hate this disease and what it has done to my life and my psyche.  I hate that it has taken so many wonderful women from this world.

God bless you Colleen.  I am so glad I met you.  I pray you are now happy and healthy and at peace.

My love to all of you,

Karen

    Karen, I echo your thoughts.

    Damn this disease.

As I head towards 5 years of recurrent disease, I am also feeling like it's just a matter of time. In my monhly support group 5 awesome women have died as well as too numerous on this board and Sisterhood of Ovarian Cancer Survivors on Facebook.

Colleen was a lovely woman who was always encouraging....she will be missed.

    Very Sad

Karen, thank you for sharing the sad news about Colleen.  May she rest in peace.

I've been wondering about the women who have been on this board, many of whom we haven't heard from for a long time.  I keep hoping that they are doing well and living their lives; many no doubt are but it is gut wrenching every time we lose a sister.  I myself have been very fortunate to be living with NED (no evidence of disease) for over five years since my front-line chemo ended.  Karen and Susan, I am sending warm hugs and good wishes to you and our other teal sisters.

    RIP COLLEEN

So sorry to hear this, but thank you for sharing, Karen.

Don't despair, Karen.  Just focus on the moments of each day, one at a time.  Believe me, I know the anxiety of the waiting game.  I came to realize that my worry didn't change anything.  So make the best of every day that I could was what mattered most.  Easy to say, I know, but leaning on the Lord is my best advice.  And thanking Him everyday for my superb and supportive family.

God Bless all of you today.  Will check in later. . .

    Karen, first off, thank you

Karen, first off, thank you for sharing this very, sad news with us.  I at amazed at how the women have loved and supported each other over the years and then to just lose someone is just mind numbing.  I struggle to accept this, and yet I know it is real.

I wanted to share the beautiful picture Colleen had on her page here as it is how we had gotten to know her.

May God bless her family at this difficult time and may God bless the warriors.
