RCC causing Hyperparathyroidism?
Hi guys, Have any of you had a parathyroid gland issue clear up after removing your Renal Cell Carcinoma? I was scheduled for parathyroid surgery due to elevated PTH (diagnosed primary hyperparathyroidism) and now that I had my partial nephrectomy 3 months ago, my PTH levels are back to normal levels! My endocrinologist said he has seen it happen before. The RCC produces a parathyroid hormone mimic. Also, my hypothyroidism corrected itself after surgey also. A few weeks after surgery my endocrinologist took me off of "Synthroid" because my numbers had swung to be very hyperthyroid. Now, my levels have been normal the past couple of months and I am med free! Crazy!

Thyroid
Mine was all over the place, I now take 225mcg of L Thyroxine daily and 300 on a saturday. I dont know why. I also had an endochronologist who told me I had the bone density of a post -menopausal woman, and could not make a decision with me in the room.
I never went back

I can't blame you for not going back there ! Do you have to take anything for lower bone density?

I feel 100% better than I did 4 or 5 mos ago, much more active now.
