My 74 year old father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer,

My 74 year old father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Stomach Cancer on Easter 2016.

He had been a very healthy man up to 2 months ago.  Doctors performed a catscan and found fluid in his stomach and decided to test him further for Cancer and on Easter they confirmed. He was also diagnosed with Malignant Acites.

His doctor wants to start chemo on 4/15/16, should he do it.

He is so weak and hardly eats that we are concerned the chemo will kill him.

Any information and opinion is greatly appreciated.

    My 76 year old father was diagnosed with stomach cancer (actually on the Cardia) Jan 2016.  He is healthy and active before the diagnosis.  It is T4N1Mx.  The tumor is big (5x3 cm). 

    He started Chemo Feb 2016, and is handling it fine.

    The dr will determine if the surgery is possible after the chemo.  He will have PET SCan tomorrow and see if the tumor has shrunk.

    It comforts me in knowing your father is doing well. How many treatments has he had?

    How was he physically when he started the chemo?

    My father had 4 cycles of

    My father had 4 cycles of Folfox.  He was healthy and active before the chemo.  The chemo side effect is managable for him.

    Mariagomez,    For

    Mariagomez,    For days my father doesnot want to eat,  we gave him "Ensure", smoothie with fruit/veggies.  Also we got the soybean machine to blend/mix different kind of beans/nuts for him to drink.
