Next Steps
I finally heard from the surgical scheduler today. The call was not what I wanted to hear. They couldn't get me in to see my surgeon until April 15th. Really? You do know there is cancer involved here right? Well sorry that is the best they could do. Did I want the appointment or not? Well duh.
So I get off the phone and have a total melt down. My hubby asks if I want to try a different surgeon, but I know mine is top in his field and he has worked on me twice already. He knows me. So I guess we wait.
20 minutes later the phone rings again. It is my surgeon himself this time. He does not want to wait until the 15th. He is not in his office Thursday he is in the instruction clinic teaching but he said if I could be there first thing in the morning he will see me before his day starts so we can discuss options and next steps.
Bless him for his kindness and compassion. Now I pray he will take this evil little beasty out so we can move forward again.
All prayers and good thoughts will be appreciated.

Someone stole his golf clubs???
Someone stole his golf clubs???
Glad you found a physician that cares as much as that one apparently does! They are rare and far between!
I was told on Thanksgiving day, that my tumor had to be addressed ASAP before it grows into areas that can not be addressed.
That was at the end of November. Maybe they will return my call tomorrow. Or maybe they're in cohoots with my health insurance company, waiting for a payoff from them after my widow recieves the death bennies from the Life insurance company...
I had a great Gastro doc that I trusted as a friend since 2006. I didn't get a second opinion, thanks to the trust and caring she showed me. If I wanted an appointment, I got one.... same day! They would "squeeze" me in.
For almost 1.5 years, I asked for a coloscopy/sigmoidoscopy but she did not feel it was necessary.
The tumor grew and now may kill me.
As much as you may love your doc.... please get other opinions if your "gut' tells you that you should. Don't be as trusting as I was, please.
My hopes are for you!

It's the worst to not be sure
It's the worst to not be sure if you're comfortable with your doctor. I wonder if for many people the issue is more the receptionist or nurse who books appointments rather than the doctor. I'm a dental receptionist and people do not get to spend even a minute with the dentist unless I let them. Of course, it's never life and death for a dental patient but my point is that the people booking are the ones that decide when you get in. I'll make concessions for people and we're a very comfortable office where our patients are treated like family. But there are many offices where the receptionists are just doing a job. I think that the wait times are sadly also a reflection of how many people are diagnosed with cancer and must be seen.
