Pink bus Thursday?

Anyone want to ride along tomorrow?  17 weeks post chemo and 4 weeks post shingles across the surgical area, I think I am ready for this.  Having an " extended lumpectomy" to take out the remains of the tumor and as much of the fascia/pectoral muscle as needed for clear margins.

Expect that anxiety and concern for the unknown is normal.  Great friends called and texted, but I would appreciate some company for the ride.  I am sure I will have questions post surgery, and I am so grateful for the wonderful words of wisdom each of you has shared here on this site.  Spring is moving in (although we have snow predicted the next 2 days), and I can really appreciate my new beginning!

thanks!

Kathy

    Surgery went well

Thank you, friends, for riding along.  Surgeon took more of the affected breast than she planned, but the good news is that there was no muscle involved, so chemo did its thing.  Now just dealing with meds and side effects.  Did anyone have a Q-ball?  Pain relief in a ball catheterization that I am supposed to remove tomorrow.  Nervous about doing this - never heard of anyone needing to pull anything out on their own.  Plastic surgeon said if I am too queasy she can take it out Tuesday when I see her.  Advice?

    thanks!

    I missed the bus!!

So sorry to have missed the ride with you!  Kathy, I had a medicine ball to remove myself.  Is that what you mean?  I was afraid to have to do it, but it was a piece of cake.  If you have trouble, a nurse will talk you through it on the phone.  So happy you were able to have the surgery, finally.  I've been thinking about you w/the shingles episode, too.  Great to hear from you.  Take care, Linda

    Pink Bus

I am sorry I missed the Pink Bus. That is not like me. I am glad the day went well for you though.

Your post reminded me that at one point during my treatment I did go home with what I called a pain pump. That is probably not the right term for it. I clearly remember my husband being on the speaker phone with the doctor who walked him through the removal procedure. There was nothing to it. We then just  put it in the trash.

    Thanks, Linda and Irene

Thanks, Linda And Irene.    The surgeon gave me antiviral meds to ward off the shingles.  I definitely don't want them popping up again across the surgical site.  I did not think about having someone on the phone To take out the Qball.  We have friends who have 2 daughters that are nurses.  I think we will consult as we pull.

So far pain is manageable.  Right now my arms actually hurt more than the breasts.  Guess they were in wacky positions as surgery was performed.

    Sorry I missed the bus

Kathy sorry I missed the bus. I have been gone a couple of weeks and then down about 10 days with what I suppose was the flu even though I took a flu shot. Just got back to feeling well enough to get back on computer and read all the updates. Good to hear that everything went well for you. Never have heard of a medicine ball but with all you have went through I am sure this is going to be a piece of cake. If this was me, I would just hold my breath as long as I could and tell them to get it out of there. Remember all of us Pink Sisters has to keep our big girl Pink Panties on. lol  Hugs, Pixie
