Cardiac Clearance

So, my heart is "strong" and I'm cleared for surgery.  However, the cardiologist doesn't want me to use the nicotine patch.  Makes sense since nicotine causes blood vessels to constrict and I've already had a heart attack and a stroke.  When I was in the hospital after the stroke, they put a patch on me.

The cardiologist says to suffer through for the greater good.  I just want to get through this surgery.

    I'm quite sure...

none of your Drs. want you to have a nicotine patch on during surgery....and I'm also sure that after surgery, your throat and mouth won't be able to handle smoke, so you're good to go there.  If you get rads, no way could your throat handle smoke....I'll bet that would just burn to no end.

It's between surgery and rads that you might have troulble....the patches come in three sizes, maybe use the least amout, or the middle amount?

    Surgery & no pain killer

There are a lot of different types pain killers, if it was me I would make him do a little research into just what I can and can’t have. But to say just suffer through it does not work for me as I live in pain every day. Will keep you in prayer that all goes well and that you are not in any type of pain

    That's a bummer Tonita...

but maybe it will work out for the best without the patch. I'm sending you all the virtual encouragement and strength I can. Don't look back, just keep moving forward and you'll be finished the surgery and off the cigarettes soon.
