Pelvic hip pain and chemo #29

I also had bone pain in my hip, but it was my left one. I started getting it about a year after chemo. I went to see an orthopedic surgeon, and he told me it was highly unlikely that my uterine cancer would have metastasized to my bones, as that's very rare. He did an x-ray and an MRI to be sure, and it hadn't. Then he prescribed PT, which I did two or three days a week for a month, and that didn't help, either. I had pain for a while (a year or two) and then it went away. It still comes back occasionally, often along with a pain that feels like I've strained the top of my leg on the inside of my thigh.
Years ago, there was someone on these boards that mentioned having had hip pain which was caused by the bone marrow in that area trying to replace the blood cells that had been damaged by chemo. I'm not sure if that might be what caused mine, or if it was just arthritis due to old age (I'm 67). I hope your tests come out negative like mine did.

Just as I think everything is getting better, the pain in my pelvis and hip return, The rest of me isn't to bad. I have an appointment for an MRI next Tuesday. I have thought about pain because of bone marrow in overdrive, because my RBC and platelets are not in good shape. I have thought about arthritis, I am not getting any younger. At least my doctor seems to be trying to get to the bottom of it. For that I am thankful. Nothing abnormal showed up on the CT scan I had in the ER except that my tumors had progressed a small amount. Lou Ann

I missed this post from the other day. I'm sorry to hear your hip pain has returned. I wish I had a recommendation that would ease the pain, but I really got nothing! I really dislike the pain pills the docs prescribe and I'm not much of an over the counter kind of gal. My mom had terrible hip pain in her early 60's and it turned out to be due to degenetative bone loss. She required a hip replacement. Perhaps 29 chemo treatments have taken a toll on your bones, starting in the hip bone marrow? I hope you get answers this coming Tuesday. Please keep us posted. Hoping you're pain free today~
