Meeting Mr. NED!
I went this past Tuesday to Johns Hopkins to meet with my Rad Onc. Scope, poke and prod time. All is well! He was thrilled at the healing of my throat and the questionairre about eating puts me at about 90% back to normal. So NED again! I see my Med Onc and Speech Pathologist in a few weeks and I fully expect all will be well. Next appointments will be in August.
Yeah, I have side effects, mostly pain but I have drugs and Medical Marijuana should be legalized soon As with most, I have good days and not so good days but I just chalk it up to the "new normal" and it sure beats the alternative! I hit the three year mark April 23rd
On the music front, my voice is improving as well as stamina. I have a gig Valentines Day and the season starts again in the Shenandoah National Park in March so I'll be back at it playing shows at the resorts. The BIG news is I've been selected along with 11 other artists to perform a showcase at this year's Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC the end of April (Sat. 4-30). A few years ago I thought I wouldn't be singing again so this is a hell of an honor and feather in my cap/musical career.
Hope you're all doing well! Keep on fighting the good fight!
Positive thoughts and prayers.

Alright T!!!
WTG, my friend! And congratulations on the gig in Wilkesboro....I remember back in the day when you were very worried about your voice....and look at you now!!
Delighted Mr. Ned is still in your corner....you certainly worked hard for that, also.
Hugs.

Great to hear-
the news, just as all who hear you sing will say the same. Just don't lose control and do a Marty McFly Back to the Future thing up on stage at the HS Prom with an electric guitar, you know. Just keep it toned-down to a David Gilmour thing, without the light show. Bigtime congrats.

Hey,
Glad to see your post. Sorry we have let some updates go by. Very nice to hear the official update but we knew you were good to go except the "new normal" crap. Keep strumming and singing as one day I will see you in person in the park! don
I don't post often but I have to come back for a NED announcement and offer up CONGRATS!!!!
Keep up the great attitude and play a little Gordon lightfoot for me sometime.
Best always,
Steve

Update
Follow ups with my Med Onc and Speech Pathologist 2-26 just affirmed the NED. The pain I have is neuropathic in nature and other than Gabapentin and physical therapy, it's just part of the new normal. I have the option of trying Lyrica but for now I'm upping my dose of Gabapentin by 300mg a day and we'll see. I would love to go back to acupuncture but finances won't allow that for now.
The great news is a follow up in a YEAR with my Med Onc and SP. I see my ENT/Surgical Onc in August.
Can't argue with dem apples! Thank you for all the positive feedback and posts. I truly appreciate it
