Six years...... If I can do it so can you

Went to see my throat surgeon the end of last week for my six year checkup, as usual he had two students with him one from Canada and the other from Japan. He scoped me for all to see including my wife (except me because the screen was over my head) and had me mutter all the sounds. Matt,  I know what you’re thinking…………most things in my life are over my head anyway. He asked if he told me last year that I am officially cured. He did see in my chart that I just finished treatment one day prior at Penn Medicine (different facility) for prostate cancer. Although prostate treatment was a walk in the park (except for the dam catheter thingy) compared to what I went through for throat cancer. I had to take time out to visit my favorite room on the web and coax all going through or about to go through treatment and let them know that if I could do it anybody can do it. No matter the obstacles put in front of you the reward outweighs the struggles.

I haven’t visited our room much, call it selfish but even joining this site in between my operation and cancer I never really got involved until after all my treatments were over. Evaluating myself I think I just want to battle my cancer and get through it my way. I only visited the prostate cancer room once just after being diagnosed read a few posts and had no desire to go back.

I was just told Sunday that one of my retired members is losing his battle with cancer. He is a tough stubborn Teamster who smoked right through his treatments. I use to jump his case all the time but he needed his three vises, golf, beer and cigarettes.

We are all individuals who deal with things in different ways. We all have or had one thing in common, cancer. Some are afraid to call it by name. Don’t be intimidated, cancer can be beat, me and many others on this great site are proof of it. I look forward to hearing in my future that I am cured the second time.

So I say it again…………….. no better yet you say it………..If Jeff can do it so can I.

Enjoy the day…………..I do every single one of them.

I gotta go to work. I'm working on retirement.

Thanks for checking in with good news Jeff

It's always encouraging to those of us here on the board to know that others are doing well and have made it through such a tough battle. It goes a long way to spreading hope...especially since that can be in short supply when undergoing such a difficult treatment.

Glad to know you are doing well.

Good to be placed back in the truck again I've been in office 13 years, 15 at the end of this term. A lot less stress than what I do now. I still have my CDL just in case.

    Thanks for the chuckle

No cameras, Teamsters don't like pictures. Remember...........no witnesses.

I'n supposed to go to classes in Orlando in November of this year, I may have to call and harrass ya
