When does the worry go away
My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 10/2013. This past July she finally finished treatment with a very good prognosis. I know that God has blessed us with wonderful Dr.'s and nurses not to mention his healing touch, but when does the worry go away? I constantly worry that it may come back. I don't talk to my wife about it because she is optomistic and I don't want her to know I am worried. I continually see commercials about cancer, articles pop up on facebook, when does the worry of recurrence go away or at least subside a little? I don't mean to whine or complain, we are blessed, I just can't get passed worrying about her. Thank you for allowing me to vent.

Worry
The worry never goes away. My sister is a 12 year survivor of triple negative breast cancer and she tells me that she worries everytime it is time for an ultrasound, or if she feels something that doesn't feel right. My youngest son is a 6 year survivor of kidney cancer and he worries everytime something doesn't feel right and just went thru a scare that thankfully turned out to be a cyst on his remaining kidney. My husband fought and lost his battle but we always worried everytime he had a PET/CT scan or an appointment with his specialist.
I don't think, once you have been diagnosed with cancer or your loved one has been diagnosed and gone thru treatment, that the worry stops. You just try to go on with your life but the worry will be there. My husband has only been gone 6 months and I worry that I didn't do enough to help him survive his cancer. Our sons tell me to stop that I did all I could but that doesn't really stop the worrying and thinking. And then too I worry every time my youngest tells me about some problem he is having.
Wishing you peace and comfort

Our then teenage daughter was
Our then teenage daughter was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 23 years ago and every time she tells me she's not feeling good, has an ache or pain, etc., I worry the cancer has come back. I don't think it ever goes away although, as time passes, it not always on your mind. Now I'm dealing with my own cancer and I know she worries a lot about ME.
I hate cancer!
Love,
Eldri
