Neuropathy and medical marijuana

Hi everyone,

What I would really like is to have us all in one room together.  And, very glad to be here with you.  I just had my fourth round of chemo and a big up in neuropathy after this one.  Have any of you experienced neuropathy with little knives or lightening bolts in your calves and buckling when you walk?  I have two more rounds to go, im thinking the chemo has to change (again) if I'm still going to have walking power when I'm finished.  I have casinosarcoma so they are really giving me a lot.  They stopped the cissplatin because it was doing my kidneys in, and they stopped all abdominal infusions.  Now I am getting carbonation and taxol, IV.

Im going to check into medical marijuana.  I'm in VT.  Is anyone using it?  For what purpose?  Is it useful?

    Have you tried using ice on hands and feet during infusions?

    This is recommended to prevent peripheral neuropathy, as well as taking I-glutamine and B6 complex.

    Hi, I'm diagnosed as UPSC but am getting carbo/taxol chemo.   The first two were exactly as you described, horrible nerve pain in the legs, couldn't sleep at all for a couple of days.  Just had my 3rd on Thursday, and so far NO NERVE paine!  The only thing I'm doing differently is drinking lots more water immediately afterwards, and I added a B12 sublingual 5000 mcg a couple of weeks ago.  The fingertips are still numb or getting there, but they usually recover a little between treatments.  I don't worry about them, just the electric shooting pains in my legs, and also my eye.  I've talked with my doctors and they said the only thing they can do is lower my dose, but so far, this time, I'm doing OK.  I wish I had something more to help.  The ibuprofen doesn't cut it, so I'm not taking anything now for it, will take a narco at night if I need it tonight to sleep.  Heating pads help, also warm epson salt baths before bed.  Hugs Nancy

    Thank you, veranos and donswife48, I'll let you know if there are any changes for me.  As I get further from chemo,it is slowing down some.  I re read what I wrote above!?  Sorry for so many typos, I'll check better before I send next time.  Thanks for the hug, returned to you.

    typos are a given with fingertip neuropathy!

    I still work in an accounting firm and I have to watch my fingers to make sure I hit the right keys, also on the adding machine.  When the fingers are sore, it's a real pain.  Sometimes, I get frustrated that I can't seem to remember how to spell either, but it always gets better.  I made it through last night nerve pain, and today will be better for me too.  I'm in a state that doesn't allow medical marijuana so I can't say if MJ would help or not with neuropathy, I've heard it helps with nausea, but the pills work good for me.  Hugs
