It comes in threes
Now Celine Dion's husband has passed away.
I really do hope this is the end of, at least the celebrities. I find it very hard watching people die, knowng that its only a matter of time........

Average Life Expectancy
78.7 years
“U.S. expectancy in 2011 was 78.7 years, which is slightly below the OECD average of 80.1.
We’re going to go of something, right? Is it better to get run over by that proverbial Garbage Truck?
This is why I always did what my mom told me to: "Always wear clean underwear, you just never know".

Sadly, dying is a fact of life and it comes knocking on our door in various forms. It requires us to be ready at any moment and behooves us to give lots of considereation to eternity to be sure we are ready for that and knowing why. It can only come thru the most important thing in this uniuverse-----a real personal relationship with the Creator of us all. What could be more important and securing since we all know that time is coming soon (?) It is the wise person that gets this issue taken care of whi8lst there is still time.

Now the guy that played Grizzly Adams. And apparently Celine Dion's brother only has days to live. He has brain, throat and tingue cancer. I heard Davic Bowie had liver. I'd like to know what Alan Rickman and the other actor had. Does anyone else here peruse the obituaries every day to see if they say the person passed from cancer? I find I'm a little obsessed by it.

Not every day, but I do go to Wikki Obits and check it out.
It does say Liver Cancer for David Bowie, and Heaven knows with his life-style he may have weakened it, but I'm not convinced it was liver mets that got him. We may or may never find out.
Dan Haggerty died of Cancer of the Spine. Nasty! I had a freind who died of that, and her last weeks were pure Hell. We all took it in turns to sit with her, and use the sucky thing in her mouth so that she didn't choke on her saliva. It was harrowing for her, it was harrowing to watch.
I see Alan Rickman died of Pancreatic Cancer.
Really, Cancer is not our friend.

Pancreatic, poor guy. My mother died from pancreatic cancer. I was just reading a Stephen King novel when she got the diagnosis and I still remember the part where the book said a character had pancreatic cancer and at least it was a fast one. I remember how it hit me right in the gut. I think there have been advances since she passed in 1997, though.

but there have been so many famous people who have died from pancreatic cancer: Patrick Swayze, Steve Jobs, Sally Ride, Pavarotti, Michael Landon, Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd- and the list goes on and on, it seems. BUT there also those who are survivors, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who has battled both colon and pancreatic cancers, and is still working, still with us.
Cancer in all its forms is a hatelful disease and no-one, rich or poor, young or old, famous or not, seems out of reach of its hateful ability to strike people down. If there is one positive out of all this sadness and misery, it is that cancer is getting more attention, and hopefully that attention will lead to more research and more breakthroughs. My hope, as both a polio survivor and a cancer patient/survivor, is that one day more effecitve preventive and/or therapeutic vaccines for most cancers or a cure for all cancers will be developed and cancer will be as rare as polio is now.
