Right, but what should I do on the left?
I have two tumors in my right breast. i will have a Masectomy on that side. I'm eager to hear what you think I should do on the left side. I do have a liaison on the left, but it's not malignant. i have genitics counceling tomorrow. What would you do? Or what did you do, and how do you feel about that decision now?

We can't answer that for you.
We can't answer that for you. You must make the decision yourself with lots of good specialist advice and guidance. Unsure of your type of cancer and stage which can make a difference.
Infiltrating Lobular often goes to both sides as it indeed had for me. So had bilateral. I am very happy with this decision. It was the only answer for me and my type. Whether it returns, who knows, as I came off all meds two years after. Probably will I think but for now fine.
I know its a hard decision to make, in a way it was easier for me as it was already there and active I felt it was the obvious thing to do IN MY CASE.

Hi.
I had tumor on my left. When I learned I had gene mutation BRCA1 I opted for bilateral as well as hysterectomy. Its a personal decision. I'm not sorry as I wanted to decrease the odds of going through this again. It may spread to another part of my body but I've done all that I could with my doctor's approval and guidance. Best, Sharon

I agree with Roz that it must be your decision. My surgeon met with me to explain all possibilities pertaining to the situation. Mine was an aggressive type with tentacles, usually going over to the other breast. It was a no brainer for me. I was able to have a bilateral and reconstruction in the same surgery. I know you are receiving so much info all at once and is hard to grasp. Things will settle down, and you will be fine. Before long you'll be here giving advice! Welcome, Linda

I had a double mastectomy on
I had a double mastectomy on Thursday. Just lounging around our house recovering now. It's not as bad as I think I let myself think it could be. (At least this far into it, I'm doing well). This is a wonderful site. Waiting to hear back for the results

I wish you all the best. I think you made a good decision. I only got one breast removed and the checking up on the other side (alternating ultrasound/mammogram every 6 mo) is getting tedious for these past three years. Good luck going forward...Hugs, Anna

Good for you. I had a double mastectomy on May 5, 2015. The best thing I have done. Praying for you.
