First Radiotherapy appointment today
Hi everyone. First radiotherapy appointment today and ashamed to admit that I feel really nervous. Up until this morning, I was anxious to start radiation so that I could have it over and done with as soon as possible but now that it has arrived, I am beside myself with nerves!

nerves are normal
Nerves are normal, it's like the first day of school, exciting to be moving forward but the unknown is scary.
Just take some deep breaths, find something to distract yourself with. I hope your appointment is early today so you can get this first one behind you.

You'll do great
Radiation is not difficult. It's strange, lying still with your shirt off in a huge room, but I think once you do the first day, you'll get used to it. It helps to listen to music (if available) or decide on a topic to think about. Like one day I would think about the summer I met my husband, another day I thought about one of my kids being born etc. While you wait each day, you might make some friends if others are waiting with you. I met lots of great people with various cancers as I was at a large medical center. Good luck, starting radiation means your fight is almost won! Hugs, Anna

Thanks button2. All went well. Nerves disappeared when I got to the hospital thankfully. First day over and will start treatments on 1st February for 4 weeks.

Sorry to hear you are
Sorry to hear you are anxious. To me (everyone is different, of course) it was not bad at all. I went on my lunch hour daily (from work). AT my treatment center I had an ID card, that I swiped upon my arrival-shortly after they would call me in. I would change into the lovely hosptial gown and into the room. They would adjust/ move me until perfectly placed. MY treatment was not very long. (in and out) in less then a half hour.
I wish you the best with NO SIDE effects.
I'll check back in to see how your are doing.

silly as this sounds-I am a Disney nut and I planned a GIRLS trip at the end of my treatment. Every day as I was on the table I would think "Mickey" mickey mickey
it's helped me see the end and helped out a lot.
try using a journal, I did and thought it was silly , but in hind sight it was helpful.
