glad you're on the mendmaglets said:thanks all
on the mend indeed.....day two after surgery and moving around quite well. Having the baby around was a delight and very good to have my girl here.....changing drains and dressings.
The pathology will not be back until Dec 29 but the surgeon did say he could not feel any cancer in the nodes that he took out so that was encouraging......he really did seem hopeful that we are early in the game but I really hope to just rest, heal and enjoy Christmas. If I have further treatment I will just have to worry about it later......thank for your help .....

I'm so sorry I missed this earlier. I'm glad it's over and best of luck with the results! My fingers are crossed for you!

thank you a million times over dear friends. So we went for results yesterday but I am still unclear.....my doc was on holidays and the fill in doc seemed unwilling to actually share the pathology. I really did NOT ask the right questions......you know that feeling you get when you are in the doc;s office? my brain seems to have gone out the window.
so I think the local pathology said breast cancer in the ducts ......surgery with clean margins removed it and no evidence of disease in the lymph nodes. No suggestion of staging.....I thought all this pathology went to California now for genetic testing but maybe that will come later.
The doc suggested I make and appt with my regular doc for next week......then there is the surgeon on the 11th and then back to the onc I guess. Gosh it all takes so so long......

I hate it when my regular Doc is not there for an appointment (understanding of course that he has to take a holiday). You develope a comfortable relationship with your regular Dotors, and I when there is a change, it really thows you for a loop, thus, not asking the questions that would normally just pop right out of your mouth.
I know next week probably seems like an age away, but it will swing around really quickly, and I'm sure you will get all the info you need.
Really happy to hear there was no evidence of disease in the lymph nodes. That really is good news. Clean margins, yay! So now to figure out what the next step is.
We'll wait with you, pray for good staging and hopefully no chemo.

so four weeks out of surgery....today met with the breast surgeon who was moderately hopeful,,,seems it is invasive ductal carcinoma....no invasion of the nodes so that sounds really good. The surgery is starting to heal......so so different than all the colon abdominals......plus so noticeable.....one big old boob and a concave hole on the other side. Stiff sore hard to lift arm......
on wed I will meet with onc......the surgeon's aim in complete mastectomy was to avoid radiation.....gosh knows i have had enough.....too much....so we shall see if chemo is on the plate.....
Jeff are you out there babes?????how are you doing......
love and hugs......mags

and to hear that you are healing. What a trial, to have to go through Cancer surgery all over again.
I have heard that losing a breast is terribly traumatic. Be good to yourself, give youself time to heal both physically and emotionally. You're always so postive, and we all know how far that goes.
