Saw the oncologist for the first time

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1
Met with the GYN oncologist this morning. He suspects my endometrial cancer is in the early stages, but makes no promises since he won't know for sure what we are dealing with until after surgery. I will be having a Hysterectomy with lymph node removal using the DaVinci Robot procedure on Friday, June 15th. All other discussions will take place after surgery and staging of the cancer.

    Dear ms2,

    I remember those early, scary times. It's true that you will know much more after surgery. I wish you all the best on Friday. You will feel so much better just having the tumor out of you.

    As you already know, cancer is scary business. If it has been caught early, rejoice. This is a good place to come and vent your fears, anger, happiness or whatever other emotions you will go through. Noone really, completely, understands unless they have survived cancer.

    Be sure to post and let us know how things are going. Everyone on here is going through one of the toughest times of their lives, but we do the best we can to support everyone.

    Take care and I wish you a speedy recovery, mine only took two weeks with Davinci and I was back to work.

    One day at a time
    Hi Ms2,
    Was a year ago I had my Da Vinci Robot procedure. The scars are minimal, and usually so is the blood loss, so you will feel you have to take it easy, but by 6 weeks later, I was running in the yard with the cat. However I knew when the chemo started in, things would change...

    I had came back a Stage IIIC1, which was the cancer was in the uterus, skipped the cervix and went to 3 out of 37 lymph nodes.
    I received radiation with Cisplatin, and then 4 rounds of carboplatin and paclitaxol.
    It all went better than I expected.
    I hope you are a lowly stage 1.

    Take it one day at a time, that is the best way to do it...don't look too far ahead or worry about things that haven't happened yet.
    Try to keep a positive mental attitude, and meditate to calm yourself down if you get scared, even if you aren't good at it!

    A book which helped me right from the beginning was "CAncer: 50 Essential things to Do" by Gredg Anderson. I read this first because it had 200 reviews on Amazon, and it got my head in the right place from the very beginning.

    I know it's hard not to worry between now and your surgery. If your doctor thinks it's early stage,chances are good that it is. Of course, you won't know for sure until after you get your Path report back. My doctor thought that mine was early stage before my surgery and it was. I had Endometrial Adenocarinoma stage 1a Grade 2 and had the DaVinci surgery in Feb.2012. It went very well and I was almost totally recovered in 2 weeks. I had negative lymph nodes and the cancer was totally contained in the uterus but I ended up having a postive pelvic wash.

    I really hope and pray that your cancer is contained and stage 1 and you don't need any further treatment. I chose to do 3 rounds of taxol/carbo chemo as a preventive measure to kill the cells that were in the pelvic region. I just finished and feel pretty good now.

    Had abnormal bleeding which lead to D&C

    which turned out to be endometrial adrnocarcinoma. 

    I decided on a doctor yo do htsterectomy and staging.

    the result, one lymph node involvement. So I'll see

    surgeon and oncologist to go over evetything -

    while im worried about one lymph node being found,

    im also worried about chemo - the paxol and carbopkatin

    begins late Jan. What can you tell me?

    SusieQ - Please read the thread titled Ladies Going Through Chemo... Several of us documented our journey with chemo. You will find a lot of information on what we experienced along the way.

    Several ladies are still going through treatment. And a few of us finished up late last year.

    Diagnosed 2005

    diagnosed in 2005 Stage 3a Grade 2. Endometrial Adenocarcinoma. (10 years ago).  I originally started on carbo/taxol but they switched me to Carbo/Genzar

    this is doable.  About two or three days after your treatment you may become extremely tired.
