8 years next week since I was told over the phone

"THis is not good, but not bad.. you have DCIS" no mention of cancer! I went to the computer and put in DCIS and cancer popped up.  TOTALLY unexpected!

from there-I had biopsies etc., then surgery (lumpectomy) followed by radaion and Tamoxifen (5 yrs) About 4 yrs into the tamoxifen i had to have a total hysterctomy due to the meds. (2nd lumpecomty -due to scar tissue-but they thought the cancer was back 2 yrs ago)

all good now!

Denise

I am now on annual ONLY visits to Oncolgist!

    Ain't is great?

Thanks for posting the encouraging news, Denise.  Folks just starting on their journey need support for what they face AND they need to hear good outcomes.  Congratulations on yours.

I'll add mine.   It's been just over 5 years since I finished treatments - lumpectomy, chemotherapy, radiation for IDC.  I was scared to death.  I, too, am well and it seems like a bad memory.  Unfortunately, Taxotere left me bald, but that's another story for another time.   It happens.

Hope others will post some positive news.  Treatments are not fun, but at least in my case, I'd say they were worth it.

    never thought of encouraging

never thought of encouraging words for others...When I mention to those who have not gone through this just say say "OH" or hu! They don't get the milestones, anniversaries like "WE" do here on this board.

    Thanks for the reply.

    That's some big news ~

Denise, it is a milestone, to be able to say only once a year!!!  I have been cancer free for almost 8 years, and am celebrating the 10 year anniversary of "getting the news" this coming march.  I plan on celebrating big! I have a passion for handbags~ and am purchasing a Louis Vuitton tote bag to celebrate like a rock star!!

Every day is a celebration of beating this disease~

    Hugs~ Melanie
