18 months

in Colorectal Cancer #1

It's been 18 months since my last surgery and my CEA is still normal.  Like some others it can't seem to stay level and has been fluctuating between 1.8 and 2.8 for the last 6-8 months.  I am hopeful that things are okay.  In the past once it got up to 2.8 it just kept going up and up.  In any case I'm still celebrating the fact that I have been NED for 18 months now.  I've never even made it to 12 months without going above 5.0, and it's been 8 1/2 years since I was first diagnosed as Stage IV.

    Usually by now it's taken off so I'm hopeful that it's nothing.  Merry Christmas Dave.

    I'm six and a half years out.

    Glad you are doing well. As long as your CEA is nornal I wouldn't worry. Mine had bounced around from 1.7 to 3.5 and the last was 1.9. My colonscopy a few months ago was negative and so all is well. Just keep fighting the good fight and at 18 months out I would say you have won. :)
