So many new people...

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

Just reading the posts over the last week or so, it seems that there is a whole new "class" of folks lined up to receive treatment or are just beginning their treatments.

I just wanted to say I'm thinking of ALL of you. It is such a rough and rocky road, but you will make it. My husband and I have hit the 6 month post diagnosis date. He finished treatment in September and got a clean PET scan and scope in October. Miracles do happen, and life post treatment gets better S-L-O-W-L-Y.

Yes, he still is weaning off the PEG tube and pain meds. Yes, he's still doing pureed food. Yes, he has a permanent hearing loss, but hearing aids help, and yes, he has severe dry mouth and dry eyes...BUT he's here, he's working, he's going to be able to see his son graduate from college this May.

Newbies - post your questions...and always, always feel free to ask for support here on the message board. We are family.

    And as Matt said we thank the one's before us to give us the guidance and courage to fight. Also the ones that stay to carry on.

    Barb, that was a beautiful welcome to the new members of this family! You are right. The journey is tough, but people survive, and more than that, they come out of the experience stronger. We're here to support each other, whether it's been hours or years since cancer became part of our lives.

    Thanks for putting that post on here Barb.  I know when I first came here it was like a wave of relief, to find others who are and have been in my position.  It does feel like family when everyone is putting positive thoughts your way.

    Some of us older ones are still here to help and show others just joining that they can and will make it. I just wished I knew about CSN back in 2002 when I was first told I had NPC, it would have made my going through treatment a lot easier because I would have had someone who I could talk to that understood what I was going through. To me CSN H&N is another family of brothers and sisters who look out for each other, and that we can always go to for help and understanding of what might be next.
