well they were unable to do robotically due to the large mesh I have in my abdomin     They made an incision on my left stomach area.  The reimplantment of ureter went well however it was a long process. 5 hours.   I don't know at this time if they biopsies the mass because it may have been difficult to reach.  I'm on pain mess so a little loopy.  Just wanted to send everyone a quick note that my surgery was done

Well I came home yesterday (Thursday) with a Foley Catheter in place.  it will need to stay in place five more days to make sure the implantation took.  My incision looks like a J front and back (or two Js) Ok maybe looks more like an anchor.   They did not do a biopsy  The part of the mass that the doctor saw was just scar tissue.  He felt it and said that there was nothing to biopsy.   With regard to the reimplantment, it took longer and was more difficult than expected because my ureter was attached to my leg vein and my intestines.  It took some time to separate that.  Once it was separated, the rest of the surgery went well.

I woke up and it felt like someone kicked me in the kidney.  Then I thought I hope I still have a kidney!   But they said that was from the pushing and pulling.   Unable to drive for about 4 weeks.   I will get my Foley out Monday and hope everything is fine afterwards.   I did notice that after surgery that my WBC counts were high.   It was also high in my urine a week prior to the surgery.   Don't know if that is a concern or not but I don't think so.

I can say for sure that I can tell that I don't have a stent anymore and it feels great!  And now I don't have to go have surgery every 3 months to have it replaced.

Hi Kathy

I've been off the boards for a while and I've only just caught up with everything that has been happening to you.  Gosh - that sounds like pretty big surgery, but I am delighted that they have managed to move the ureter.  I always resisted the stent, with the consequent damage to one of my kidneys, as I couldn't face the discomfort and the repeated replacement.  You must be so relieved to get that over and done with!  Also sounds as if they are not worried about the mass, which must be a relief for you after so long "watchful waiting" to see what it did.

i can tell the difference already not having a stent.  And yes I don't think the mass is going anywhere.   I am not going to worry about it.  It is what it is.  I have so much scarring in there that I don't even think they can remove it.  My first doctor believed that my severe scarring probably kept stuff from spreading.   I am fine with that!

just got my Folet catheter out.   resting and waiting to pee.  Lol.
