Day 1 in the books
and I am so proud of my husband. Radiation and Chemo (cisplatin) done like a champ. It was such a long day, and I am so glad my parents were here to get my kids from school and make them dinner because we didn't get home until late.
I cried a lot today, but my husband was so strong. He doesn't feel any different so far...no nausea or anything. Ate a full dinner and dessert. Drinking a lot of water.
Back for radiation tomorrow and hydration as well. I guess this is our new normal for the next 6 weeks. But at least day 1 is done. One day closer to being finished, right?

Just one day at a time....
One down, and he did really good. It is hard on you both as you feel his pain, even when he has none. It's called love. You both will have some days that are rough, so just take one day at a time. Only today matters, so don't think or worry about tomorrow as it is not here yet. Yesterday has passed, so just today counts. There will be time afterwords for all the tomorrows. On the bad days, just writing it down does help.

Yup....one day down....
...pretty soon, like by next week, this will feel like a job. Gotta get up and go to rads, go home...rest. Next day the same thing. Skiffen callis it "groundhog days"....and that's what it will become.
Tell him to take his anti-nausea meds no matter how good he feels......chemo is sneaky snuff, likes to wait around the corner until you feel comfortable, and jump on ya.
And YES......lots and lots of water on chemo day (all days really, but more on chemo days).

Another day done. And the advice is all great. The oncologist did say to always keep the nausea meds with him just in case. But still feeling good over here. He did a conference call today for work from the cancer center and we seem to be plugging along. Crossing those days off the calendar one by one!

Every day is a step closer to
Every day is a step closer to hearing your husband is cancer free. While you're going through treatment, it definitely does seem like a job. There will be plenty of appointments afterward, too. Then one day, you'll look at the calendar like my husband and I did and say, "Honey, we don't have any doctor appointments this week!" Freedom!
