in Colorectal Cancer #1

In August it sound dire as it spread to his brain.  Reports are radiation and autoimmune drug recently approved did this.  Wow.  C'mon science get it done quickly

    I guess I'm a pessimist, but I find it hard to believe he is cancer free after only a few months.  Brain cancer is brutal, my son in law just passed away from it in October.

    Just maybe there is treatment out there that some get and others don't. Like the someone with buku amounts of cash.

    I lost a very good friend from the same thing (melanoma, mets to brain) a few years back.  Was on an experimental drug on the time which knocked most out and almost cured it.

    To all apperances, Mr. Carter seems a rather down to earth kind of chap. When he was diagnosed, he 'seemed' very calm about the whole situaion, so maybe he is just calming the masses now. There are allot of people out there concerned for his welfare. 

    Who knows! I personally wish him the very best, as I do all who are battling this disease (and other diseases). 

    I am sorry about your friend. "Almost cured" just doesn't cut it.

    Well, that article was informative.  Melanoma, liver and brain cancer can disappear in a few months in a 91 year old man, why not all cancers?

    Yeah

    It was very hopeful because of how things improved.  It was an experimental drug and had issues with the blood-brain barrier.  But it seemed to knock the rest of it out.

    It is frustrating knowing that research is being done and making strides, yet it seems we are nowhere.  Duke had some really good results with using modified polio, other drugs show promise.  As that article indicated, some of the newer drugs in development or being rolled out tickle down from the cases that are so advanced, that the risk of harm is secondary basically.  They really need to fast track more of this.

    mind-body connection

    I read about this and I really wonder about the mind-body connection.  He seems so at peace with having cancer and leaving the living or dying uo to God.  He kept up his Habitat for Humiinty work and teaching Sunday School.  That's got to have helped, at least his mental condition.  Maybe that combined with the drugs has gotten rid of it.  Only time will tell.  I wish him all the best.

    There Is Something About That

    My doctors and nurses said I had a great attitude about this all and they feel that does help.  And I tried to do things to keep spirits up; seemed for sure to make it more bearable (the whole chemo scene).  Stress and other things can weigh on us all and affect us physically in so many ways.  So to the extent any of us can keep as much of a positive perspective, probably helps.

    heard the drug he was on and "cured" him is also in trials for colon cancer (and other types of cancer) to see if helps.  *fingers crossed*  My wife's oncology nurse made a comment one day during a treatment session.  She basically said "I know there is no clinical evidence, but I truly believe a positive attitude beats cancer. I don't need a study to tell me that."
