Thyroid Cancer and enlarged lymph nodes

You need to feel these and note any changes to your drs. Some of my nodes are enlarged or appear enlarged due to scar tissue. Other times my lymph nodes appear swollen and sore when I have a sore throat or cold. Just make sure you feel the size, location and texture of the lymph nodes. Note any changes and call your dr. During a more recent surgery, my drs found some dead cancer tumors on my spine. But due to the M131 radiation treatments, the cancer was dead. Make sure you also note if you notice if you tire more quickly, hands/feet are always cold, and frequent sore throats. These are a few important things that you may not even notice but over a few months could be a signal that something is going on in your body.Remember you are the best person to tell your drs what is going on with your body. Finally, try to worry about the thyroid cancer. I have been treating and following my stage 3 thyroid cancer since I was 21 yrs old. I am now 37 yrs old. I try not to worry about the cancer or the cancer taking over my life. I believe that God has a plan. I might not like His plan or understand His plan, but one day I will come to understand His plan. first thyroid removed on may snd second thyroid with 10 lymph node removed on july. coz have follicullar variant papillary. before RAI i found enlarge lymph node under the four finģer down  earlobe. doc decided to gve RAI. but my lump is still there do after three months of RAI met my surgeon. i told him then he took my scan n found out cyst and took biopsy. he rang day before yestrday n told me tht cyst is cancerous so doc sent MRI scan request for me. i m very worried tht radioiodine didnt kill tht csncer cell

Hi, I am new here. I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid cancer in 2012 and I had TT that year, which resulted in a paralyzed vocal chord that makes breathing difficult and my parathyroid glands were damaged too . Now my Thyroglobuline AB has been steadily going up in the past two years and my doctor is recommending Radioactive Iodine, but I am afraid about the potential side effects (loss of taste and capacity to produce saliva). On top of it for the past two months I've been feeling extremely tired, with frequent sore throat and pain in my (under ears) neck nodules ... Any similar experiences here? Your advise will be appreciated. Thanks, Monica

I was diagnosed with Stage 1 totally encapsulated Papillary Carcinoma and had a total thyroidectomy in January 2014.  After the removal I had the Radioactive Iodine treatment and since then we have done 3 full body scans - that always show normal and ultrasounds of the neck.  Last fall I had one lymph node that seems to be getting larger (4mm since surgery and is now 6mm).  My doc says we are going to rescan in 6 months, but I was wondering if anyone here was this far postop and had this happen.  Doc doesn't seem too cncerned, but I am finding that the size is really not close to normal.  The lymph nodes that were taken during the surgery were all negative for cancer.

Hi. I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in June 1963 at age 6 and am still kicking? Thyroidectomy and direction on right side to remove lymph nodes Surgery was followed by RAI treatment. Hormone replacement included Proloid, Synthroid and now levothyroxine (generic). T4 and TSH tests every 6 months with little change to the dosage over the years. No sign of recurrence and otherwise very healthy. I avoid foods that can interfere with uptake of medicine and take itndaily about 1 hour before breakfast. 

Not sure if any of this is helpful but rest assured that you can live a long and full life with this disease. Hope this gives you some comfort and insight.
