What Cancer cannot do - UPDATE

edited November 2015 in Head and Neck Cancer #1

Am posting this for everyone...and especially for those on the board here who are in the middle of their treatment. Big fundraiser coming up for the cancer center where my husband works and was treated, so I made this wallhanging to be auctioned off. I figured the person who buys it can use the outside rectangles as a place for friends, families and co-workers to sign it it or write short encouraging messages. I'm hoping that one of the rectangles will be signed by former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly - who recently underwent surgery, radiation and chemo to fight SCC. I'll let you know how much it raises..

    Hi Barb

Wow what a great idea, one thing that cancer cannot do it to take my faith away; it only makes my faith stronger.

My daughter printed and framed this poem for me when I lost my dad to cancer in 2004. It was still very inspiring to us when Rob was sick in 2013. AA very prominent thing in my home

Happy to report that my wall hanging got auctioned off for $150. The whole event (All Star Night) raised over half a million for the cancer center which will go toward research grants, patient care, new technology. The Alliance foundation which runs the fundraising all grew out of one family's experience when their 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. She lost her battle...and in her honor and memory they worked tirelessly to create a volunteer board that raises funds. They have been in existence for 25 years now...and their efforts have resulted in raising millions of dollars. I am absolutely in awe of this family who transformed a tragic and horrible loss into something truly meaningful and eternally good!

    WOW!!!

That's incredible!!  It's mind boggling, actually....one event raising 1/2 million dollars.  Sounds like a wonderful organization.

I don't want to start a war or play in the realm of PC ...

But we spend 14 million a day in Afghanistan on flight mission alone.  Imagine what 14 million a day would do to cancer..

    Sorry, but just my 2cents.

By the way, that quilt is so far above outstanding that I can't think of the proper description.  Great work.
