radiation after lumpectomy
Met with radiation oncologist and he said radiation can cause the breast to shrink even to half its size. Has anyone experienced this?

Good heavens -- half the size?!?
I had bilateral lumpectomies followed by radiation to both breasts about 6 years ago.
Both breasts definitely were a little bit smaller after radiation -- a bra fitter I met with estimated they had gone down about half a cup size, and I did have to replace all my bras with a band size one size down to compensate for it. And the change was permanent.
But HALF THE SIZE?!? I'm not a medical professional in any way, but that sounds crazy!

not true for me
I had lumpectomy and radiation to my left breast. It has a depression on the left side where the tumor was, not really noticeable once I have my bra on.

No shrinkage for mejane55ill said:radiation after lumpectomy
i had radiation after lumpectomy not quite 12yrs ago and i havent noticeds shrinkage. have scars on both from different biopsies, but from what i here those arent as necessary with the newer mammo, oh well . Wish u the best!
I even had a breast reduction (they called it a partial mastectomy and oncoplasty) done at the time of my lumpectomy in an attempt to get symmetry for the first time in my life. That breast was then radiated it is still still slightly (ever so slightly) larger than the other one spite of it all. No one mentioned shrinkage from radiation to me, either.

I am just the oposite-VERY small breasted prior to cancer-after 5 yrs of tamoxifen I actually gained (NOT sure if from the Med) breast size. Prior i was an "A" -maybe a "B"-
NOW size "C" -i went to Victoria Secrets to be fitted properly.
