Nurse says cause I'm still cooking well I think I should be done! just checking if anyone else had experienced same as what I have read this crap should be gone by now. Thanks Ed

ed, i just want to say i'm praying you find relief.  the side effects of tx are sometimes quite worse than the tx itself.  hang in there.

    God bless you,

    My husband had terrible mouth

My husband had terrible mouth sores.  I got him some liquid aloe vera.  It is safe to drink.  He would swish it around in his mouth and immediately had relief.  He is now 2 months from his last rad and other complications but he still swishes with the liquid aloe vera.

    Aloe Vera juice

My husband has been adding about 2 TBSP aloe vera juice (strawberry-kiwi) flavored to the water bottle he sips throughout the day. He is post treatment but still feels like the mouth tissue is "raw". As it is juice...not gel, he adds it to the water and finds it to be soothing.

    Hang in there

When you talk about treatment and had chemo and or radiation, 12 weeks is not that long. I never had to have chemo and radiation, just surgery. I was back at work in 10 weeks. It took six months to a year to be back as normal as I can be. Recovery is messured in months instead of weeks. Just think back and you will see you have come a long way. You will get there.

    Glad to hear

it is getting better! Those mouth sores are the worst! My husband is in the same boat with the dry mouth now. He is getting ready to enroll in a clinical trial that uses electrodes to simulate acupuncture to improve dry mouth...hopefully we will see some improvement. I'll keep everyone posted. meanwhile I hope the pilocarpine kicks in and works for you. From what I read it can take a very long time for saliva to return.

    Aloe Vera Juice

    Hi Barbara

Where do you get aloe vera juice?

You can get it on Amazon

This is the kind we get...

    http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Aloe-Strawberry-Kiwi-Juice/dp/B0013BHGES

My husband mixes it with his water bottle and drinks it throughout the day. You have to be careful to limit the amount you drink per day because it can cause diarrhea - but if your on pain meds that are constipating...it may all balance out. Also we get ours from a nutritionist who gets it wholesale and then offers it to us at a slightly reduced cost than what you can find on amazon.
