numbness
hello i just had a lumpectomy with bilateral reduction. this occured about 6 days ago. my questions is has anyone who has had a similiar experience had numbness in the axilla where the lymph node was removed? also sharp stabbing pain in that area too. i am attributing this to nerve pain.

I did not have the reduction. Did you have sentinel node removed too? Numbness and sharp pain is usual, numbness may or may not go away.

Hello to you! I had a lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy in October and I had some shooting pains in my breast. Didn't have any in the node area. I also had an internal itching in my breast. It wasn't anything you could scratch and it drove me nuts. I found that if I took Benadryl that it helped. I figured it was a sign of healing inside.

Early days yet and I almost positive you are just healing inside everything is settling down, reconnecting. Itching is a sign of healing. Shooting pains and numbness all normal as I recall. Please just mention it the next time you have any treatment or blood work done. Call your cancer nurse just to put your mind at rest.
