Surgery in the books

Well surgery was on the 10th and went as well as could be expected.  At least that is word on the street as I was still drooling and staring for several hours after the operation.  Medical team rocked and after 8 hours sent me to ICU for some needed rest LOL.  Nurses and staff were all so professional making me as comfortable as possible and I really felt pretty good, well quite good after the meds kicked in.  Now it's time to recover, get better and see what the pathology results are.  Yup more waiting but I think I am actually ok slowing this crazy ride down to get my bearings.  Thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers, I never felt alone or afraid thanks to all of you that have been there before.

I'm glad that part of your treatment is over, hope you'll heal quickly, and pray you'll have good news from the pathology report .

Well...we can wait for the pathology

reports together, since we almost had surgery together Smile...only a couple days apart.  It makes me feel good to hear you so chipper....that's wonderful!  The frantic "what to do first" part is over....so yes...rest, heal....and get your bearings....and see what's around the next corner.

    glad to hear

Over the hard part. Recovering from surgery is a smoother ride out than from chemo and rads so you'll likely be up and about in no time. Glad to feel the good spirit you are in. Great!

    Glad the surgery went good.

Now to recover and do the waiting game. I feel all will be good as they have an idea when they do the surgery. I guess I was very lucky as the pathology was done while I was in surgery. When I came out the said all 86 lymph nodes were clean. The worst part is on the spouse, said goodby at 6am and went to surgery and didn't see her until 9:45 pm. She worried the whole time, and I slept through it. Darn glad I did too. When I woke up I was in my regular room. Will still keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Tell your wife to get some well needed rest.

Sounds like you did well through it all. Recovery from surgery is generally a pretty straight run.

    Good news Negative Margins

Met with the surgeon for a follow up today and pathology came back clear!  We are gonig to monitor for any growth but so far no radiation will be needed.  So much to be thankful for this year, I just can't put it into words.

    That is such wonderful news.

Clear margens mean NED [No Evidence of Disease] and great news that no radiation is neeed. That is a great reason to celabrate. Such good news and at Thanksgiving to boot. I am very happy for you.

    Thanks WMC

Thanks Bill! I did find out the hard way recovery is a long process.  Went to Thanksgiving and wound up with a cold. That on top of coming out of surgery made for one rough week.  Lesson learned, listen to the doctors and take it easy!

It's Fantastic that you had negative margins!

This will be a Thanksgiving to remember for sure.

    Bless you!

While I would wish that we never had cancer

I certainly won't regret the valuable lessons I've learned from the experience.
