appendix caner

My husband was just diagnosed with mucinous adenocarcinoma with appendix primary.  After researching it we think the debulking surgery and HIPEC are his best option.  Just wondering where some of you had it done and if you can give me any information.  We live in Illinois but are willing to travel to find the best.

    Solid cystic mass at tip of appendix

    i had a perforated appendix which they treated with iv antibiotics.The cat scan showed a solid cystic mass 30X16mm that the radiologist says could be from the perforation Anyway the appendix will be coming out now that the infection has resolved. Good luck and any thoughts are welcome:)

    Hi everyone. they took out my appendix 3.7 cm tumor at its greatest dimension. operation was a week ago.  located in tip which extends thru wall to involve muscularis of a wedge of the bowel which wedge was also removed.  no lymphovascular invasion. Proximal resection margin free of tumor. Margins of the wedge of bowel also free of tumor Since it touched the bowel they gave it a pT4b. Also removed a 1.4 cm tumor from kidney with clear margins. Had this done at Memorial Sloan The abdominal doc hasnt called me. She said before operation that "this won't kill you." The other doc, urologist, I met with today and he gave me the report and told me to speak with (call) other doc. I did and she was of course busy and will call tomorrow. i have no symptoms. They initially thought i had appendicitis cause in August i went to er feeling just 'unwell' and the hospital i went to did a cat.The kidney tumor and the appendix mass showed up. They treated the appendix with antibiotics, which cleared up my 'unwellness'. Any thoughts???  Thanks so much:)

    Sloan Kettering is good

    They know appendix cancers.  That's where I go.  I've been cancer-free for 8 years now.  Who did you see there?

    Cancer free?

    Well had my 2nd operation, right hemicolectomy, after 4 months of chemo. There were 4 out of 14 lymph nodes positive....all 14 were removed. No cancer in bowel. Margins all tumor free. The chemo should have killed any cells that may have "escaped" and the doc says I'm "cancer free" Of course recurrence anxiety is a whole new challenge. The surgery went well and I was home in 2 days (went in Saturday home Monday) There is hope and no 2 people are alike, A rare cancer does not mean an incurable one. Cure rates for Appendix Cancer range from 38% to 95% dependinng on a host of factors.I hope this helps continue the  spread of hope.
