Scar Tissue

I am now almost 5 months out from treatment and I have a hard lump at the same spot I had the tumor.  My doctors suspect residual cancer (because it's hard)but say that it could be scar tissue.  I am scheduled for a PET scan  next week. Has anyone else experienced scar tissue that was hard?

I had (and still have) a hard

I had (and still have) a hard spot right where the tumor was. It's not cancer but scar tissue, probably from when the original tumor was surgically removed. Sometimes when I've had either a tough bowel movement or the runs (and have needed to wipe a lot), it gets a little irritated and feels larger. Hope yours is scar tissue too.

This has not been my experience, but I know other people have.  I hope that your PET scan will show no activity at the tumor site and that this does turn out to be just some scar tissue.  I send all good thoughts your way!

    Scar tissue

Last Thursday I was hospitalized for a biopsy bcz the surgeon found a spot during an anoscopy that concerned him.  My treatment was completed July 2014.  It turns out that the spot was radiation scar tissue.  I believe that I had irritated scar tissue when I started a vigorous walking exercise routine a few months ago.  This resulted in some burning and a little bleeding.  I got the lab results on Tuesday and I'm breathing easier now.  Good luck with your PET scan.....keep thinking scar tissue!

    Thank you

Thanks to all three of you for responding. I got the results of my PET scan yesterday. It shows about the same low level activity area that it showed three months ago. They said that the only way to know if it's residual cancer or scar tissue is to biopsy. I see the surgeon this afternoon to schedule biopsy. It really helps put my mind at ease to know that others have experienced this and it turned out to be scar tissue.
