Want to apologize for not replying to your posts - some issues developed

I know I pop on and off these boards and sometimes I can give a quick reply to some of your posts.   I wish these boards had a button to push on a post something like "thinking of you" "prayers" especially if you can't reply like you would like.

I want each and everyone of you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and that I do read your posts and offer more prayers if needed.

To the newbies on this board.....Don't get discouraged if someone doesn't reply right away.   Repost if you need to.  Sometimes I don't know what to say so I don't post.   But i have started to just say that just to let the writer know someone is reading their post.

 

My issues:

I was just hospitalized for pancreatitis.   I was in the hospital for four days and they have no clue why I got it.   I am still waiting for an autoimmune test to see if that may be the cause or they think it might have just been a one time thing.  I don't think so because I have had it before and didn't go to the hospital.  What I mean is that I had the symptoms before.  Severe indigestion, pain.    I actually went to the hospital this time because the indigestion turned into chest pain/tightening.   I never thought I would be hospitalized.  Anyway glad to be back home.

I came home this Thursday and on Friday my husband is now in.  He has a blockage in his gallbladder and liver.   Just had an MRI done this mornning and waiting for results.   May have to have a stent put in if they find the blockage.   

 

Just wanted to shout out a bit and let everyone know I am thinking of you all.

    I'm so sorry all this is happening to you and your husband.  You wonder if this is related to the cancer or something else that just showed up?  It's always hard to tell when things are related.

    No apologies ever necessary!

    My sister has had pancreatitis about 6 or so times. Then, she had half her pancreas removed. They never knew (and generally don't know) what actually causes it.

    What she discovered though, is that certain foods cause inflamation which triggers it. 

    If you are interested in additional information from her experience, please shoot me an email and I'll ask her for some "lessons learned" information.

    So sorry that happened to you. It is one of the most painful things she has gone through.  Although, she did say her bowel blockage was even worse!

    I hope both you and your husband feel better quickly.

    Sorry to hear this news, but so pleased you are back home.  I've never experienced it, but I know people who have and they've said the pain is pretty bad, so I'm so pleased you got checked out at the hospital.  I hope your husband is OK and that they can sort out whatever the problem is (hope it isn't a blockage).

    Hi Kathy, so sorry to hear that you were in the hospital.  I hope things are better now.  Now what is this with your dear husband.  Let's hope he get good medical attention and get things back to normal.  You are such a strong person keep up your faith and be well.

    What's so strange is that I have heard of so many more people getting pancreatitis and it ended up being a gall bladder instead.  Don't know if you still have your gall bladder, but I hope they get to the bottom of the issue.  Sorry to hear about your husbands hospital stay.  I think we all think about each other when we don't post.   no worries Kathy.

    You have indeed had a bout of health issues!  Has the pancreatitis resolved?  Wishing you and your husband the best.  Enough already!

    I just can't tell each and everyone of you how special you all are.   Its been a rough week and it seems that we may have a bumpy road ahead of us.   They don't know what caused my pancreatitis.   However, my husband just found out today that he has a 3 cm mass around the bile duct and which is attached to the head of the pancreas.   His CEA levels were at 22 (normal <3) which they usually don't test for unless they actually found cancer.   Inflammation can also cause the rise.   The panceatic cancer marker was low (which is good).   He is going in for an EUS or the other type of scope.  They will look and take some biopsies and maybe place a drain to help get rid of some of the toxins as he is jaundace.   The GI doctor said he will need surgery which may include whipple to resection the mass.   It doesn't seems like it has spread anywhere else.   Also, the 3 cm takes in the inflammation also so the actual mass may be smaller.

    We had our intiial cry and now it is time for us to stay strong.

    I was supposed to have surgery on December 14th, but I am going to cancel that.   Its too much right now and not an urgent thing.  The surgery was to reimplant my ureter into my bladder so that I wouldn't need a stent.   This only means I will still have to get my stent changed every 3-4 months (which will be due December or January anyway).

    I am scared to eat and still eating lightly.    However, we are still running our business.   I am just glad we weren't in the hospital at the same time.   Although we basically went through the same procedures (ultrasound, MRCP, scope).

    Kathy, I'm so sorry!

    I am so sorry, Kathy, about your husband!!  Sometimes you wonder how much more people can take.  We also own our own business and it's hard enough with me being sick, much less if my husband was too.

    I hope they find something in your husband that can be easily fixed.  Sometimes life is such crap but, like you said, you have a good cry and then you pull yourself off the pavement and get going again.

    If anyone knows my husband, he's a bear just having a cold.  So just sitting around in the hospital (no iv) and just waiting to have tests done is driving him absolutely mad.   They put him in first as an outpatient so that he could get the MRCP and then the EUS but after the MRCP they wouldn't do the EUS over the weekend because the better doc was there on Monday.   So they did the EUS thing late yesterday and put a stent in.   In between the MRCP early Saturday until Monday they could have given him real food but the outpatient floor wasn't paying much attention and kept him on clear liquid diet.   His GI doc came in on Sunday and said why is he on clear liquids?   He could have had solid food until midnight Sunday.   They did bring him a tray but then he couldn't eat or drink at all all day Monday (from midnight until 2 p.m. when they took him down).

    I wanted to pick him up today.  No one came in to see him so I left for lunch.  He just called me and said a nurse came in and said they wanted to do a CT.   My husband so no way.  I want released today.   He can always go to an appointment for a CT.  No need to stay in hospital.   So I will go see him here shortly and try to get some answers.   Especially since this GI said that he will have to go to another doctor to get surgery.

    Thanks for the strong thoughts!   We have already put the boxing gloves on.
