bad taste in my mouth

I get folfox infulsions on Thursdays, so the pump comes off on Saturday.  Saturday and Sunday are the bad days.  Monday and Tuesday I am still feeling generally yucky for lack of a better word.  My mouth, soft palate and nose feel funny.  There is a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like I can still smell the medicine.  I hate it.  Anybody found anything to reduce the taste/smell side effects?  Sucking on candy or chewing gum is the only thing I can think to do.   But it doesn't help that much.  It's a psychological effect more than anything.  I still feel poisoned.

    About the only time

I could smell and taste anything really bad was when I got/get the Heparin flush.  One of the oncology nurses told me to  suck on a peppermint candy just before and during the flush and that did take care of both the smell and taste. I hope you find something that works as well for you.

    Dear Friend,

That bad taste was one of the worst things for me too. I liked ginger candy and pickled ginger.

Hand in there, you are bound for NED!

    My husband has this symptom

My husband has this symptom also.  He just finished his 4th folfox treatment and the side effects are very noticeable now.  His hands hurt and are sinsitive to cold and feel like needles goes thru them.  Awful taste in his mouth too.  He feels crappy from the evening of his infusion until a couple of days later after they remove his chemo pump.

    Bunch Of Altoids

Grabbed a bunch each time something was going to be flushed, connected or disconnected.  The taste was around those times, which started about 4 treatments of or so.  Did not have it constantly, except for those times.  But there is still, from time-to-time, instances where I think I have the taste for brief moments.  And this is two months out of last treatments.  Pretty sure I think it happens when I think about a hook-up or the chemo a bit.  And I have a scan coming up, so maybe that is it.

It is amazing how quickly of being off the chemo that the normalcy of not being stuck every two weeks becomes a memory and the realization of how weird it all is.  (Going through it, you do what you got to do and work it out, afterwards, Holy smokes, really I did that?  At least that is somewhat the feeling I have :) )
