cryosurgery kidney cancer, pain, swelling 4 mos out
Husband had a 3sm mass attached to his kidney, had cryosurgery Sept 2014. Dr said to get all the margins he had to freeze part of the 12 rib. After much pain and swelling Dr. said he also got part of the nerve. Four months now and 4 doctors later he is still in pain and swelling. Everyone says the same about the swelling "never seen this before....don't know". Today he was told this might be it....pain and swelling forver. He lives on the pain pills and has little quility of life. Can anyone help him on this matter. Thank you.

Cyrosurgery
There have been a few other problems with Cyrosurgery that have been posted the last few years. This was not on the table when I had my neph 12 and 1/2 years ago.
That being said you need to get an opinion as far up the food chain as possible. The problem may be that doctors are a little hesitant to rat on each other.
And then there is always the possability that this will resove itself.
Let us know how this turns out.

Thank you for reply. Yes I have found a few others with the same after results but no comments as to what and where to go from there.
We have hope and trying to find the road to recovery.

I am sorry to hear about your
I am sorry to hear about your issues. It can't be easy to watch your loved one go through this.
From what Iceman said about the doctors not wanting to rat each other out....not sure where you live, but if you live in the States, can you look out of state for another doctor/opinion? Worth a shot. Also go to the website Smartpatients. There is a huge amount of information there.
Good luck to you. Don't lose hope!

Cryo Hell
Last Monday (one week post surgery) I saw my internist and she said that it was going to take time to heal. Well, I am having no improvement from the pain. What happened to your husband sounds exactly like what I am going through. I am so depressed and I feel that family must think that I am crazy or looking for sympathy. Not the case. I am a tough woman and have had many surgeries in my live, but nothing that after two weeks, did not improve. The swelling, pain and the nerve pain are horrible.
I see that your post is dated January 2015, how is your husband doing now. I know exactly how horrible his paid has been.
Praying that he is doing much better now.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear that your healing is not going very well and that you are in so much pain. Sometimes the expected pattern just doesn't fall into place. Unfortunately you are one of these cases. I hope you get some relief soon. You poor thing! I am thinking of you and sending you big (gentle) hugs.
We are here for you if you need to pour out your frustrations. Be well.

I am going to call my uro oncologist Monday, since he is the doctor who referred me for this procedure. Funny thing is that I was hesitant to have the ablation, but thought since it was less invasive, it was a better choice than a partial. Thank you so much for your kind words, I appreciate your concern so much. I return the love and hugs to you and the rest of our membership. Blessings.

Small Eggplantsize swelling post cryoablation
hi all-happy to have found this forum. . I had cryotherapy on a 1 .5 cm neoblast of undetermined behavior 10 days ago. I have swelling that appears every day around 3 PM and becomes painful into the evening hours. It's mostly around toward the front of my abdomen above my hips, below my ribs- about the size of small eggplant. It's the weekend and I failed to call my doc as I felt I was getting better. I read a few other people had the same problem. Did you get a resolution? What was the culprit. My doctor returns on Monday I will definitely be in touch then but wondering if I should do in the meantime. It is tender and sore and almost throbs during the evening hours. After bed, in the morning it seems to have subsided a bit, but then reappears starting in the afternoon. I have an about that nothing very strenuous. Thanks for any Info you might have .
