Update on my clinical trial - good news!
After two cycle which consist of three treatments each; a platelet transfusion and two blood transfusions and lots of sleep we met with the team to review scans from last week and see if I could continue with the trial. The scans revealed the met resting on my heart now has "dead" tissue in it and two of my other mets have slightly shrank! Overall my cancer is considered stable right now which is great. The treatment is acting exactly how they hoped, killing existing tumors from the inside and cutting off supply to new growth! It is preliminary but the best news I have had in two years!
My bone marrow issues are under control and platelet and red/white blood cells are back in the normal, albeit low end, range. I am cleared to ride at a trot now although cautiously. I had to share the news especially for those on longer journeys Or starting new journeys. Things are always changing in this field and I am lucky to be a beneficiary of that. I know there will be bumps ahead but I am going to celebrate the good news when I get it.
Hang tough ladies. hugs to all! Anne

Great news! You must be delighted with the early scan results. Having worked in clinical trials for most of my working life, I know it is people like you who are prepared to take a step into the unknown who are at the forefront of new discoveries. I am so pleased for you and thank you for what you are doing which will help so many others in the future.

Sometimes on this Board, I find myself wanting to break out into a victory dance! Yah! I want to shout, stomp my feet, let the world know how I feel. Anne, I am so very happy to hear that you are responding to the treatment! I have been quietly rooting for your success. Free yourself of all worries by taking that much needed ride on your adored horse. I wish I could join you on your ride!
Best to you, my friend,
Cathy

That's such great news. Thanks for being a pioneer in these new treatments and giving everyone hope. Even though my cancer seems to be gone (I'm a 5 year survivor), I can never really be sure. My mother had breast cancer twice, ten years apart. It's good to know that if mine ever comes back, there may be new ways to treat it!
