5 years Friday
Hi all:
Thought I'd better check and see what's happening. This past Friday 8/21 was 5 years since Charlie passed away. It sure doesn't seem like that. I spent the day with the "boys" and I always reread all the cards; play the videos that were made, and listen to Steve (brother-in-law) and my parts we did at his service. Yes, a lot of crying goes with it but there was laughter to watching the videos!
In June my friends and I went to New Smyrna Beach, FL for a girls week and Debbie of Jim and I got to meet for lunch while I was there. I was so excited to actually meet face to face one of my CSN buds!
I've already subbed 10 days this school year. The county I sub in called to sub the 4th day of school and I was there thru this past Thursday. It was a new teacher coming from private to public school which I'm sure was culture shock! Anyway she resigned and I stayed with them till new teacher was hired and got started. I'm already staying busy which is good because I had to buy a new refrigerator in May so subbing will help to pay it off!
It has been a miserably hot summer here in Georgia. So grateful for air conditioning.
I have a prayer request actually a couple. My best friend's (Beki) husband Steve I've told y'all about. In 2013 was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent chemo and rad and did good. March of 2014 they discovered mets to brain but responded very well to targeted rad. Nov. of 2014 one met had grown slightly and had one rad tx and did well. His scan in August revealed same met had grown again but not much so he finishes 5 tx tomorrow. He's had some weak spells where he really can't move his right arm and leg good and gets confused. However he's now on steroids and that has cleared up.
Now the other request is for my friend Tamara. She has to go back for a second mammogram because first one was inconclusive and then her platets have dropped to 84,000 and her mother passed away four years ago from an aggressive form of leukemia. Then her 90 year old father in Florida is not doing well. And talk about a basket case! She tends to be a drama queen! I told her yesterday that I really felt her biggest concern was her Dad and her medical issues aren't as bad as she thinks. I pray I'm right. Anyway she also is going to see the hemotologist which was also Charlie's oncologist so she will be in perfect hands! Anyway, please keep her in your prayers and her Dad too.
Anyway that's about all for now. Will try to be better about checking in more often. I think about all of you often and still sing the praises of this website. If it weren't for this website and all of my wonderful CSN buds I would not have made it through these past 5 years and the years to come. I miss Charlie so much; he was my best friend, my true soul mate and always will be. Thanks again and God Bless!
Love y'all
Jan (Basketcase)
