Update on Winter Marie -updated again 9/2/2015

The following is an update from Winter Marie's daughter.  I post it here with her permission.  Winter is visiting her now in Ohio.

 

I just wanted to give everyone an update on Mom. I know her phone is constantly getting calls, texts and Facebook messages. She doesn't seem to have the strength to hold her phone and her fingers just aren't working well enough to send a message back. All the thoughts and prayers for her are appreciated. She is by far the strongest person I've ever known, and she's still fighting. She said her brain isn't ready to give up, but her body just isn't listening. She's becoming more confused as time goes on, but I believe that's really just from the pain meds. If you'd like to send a card or flowers I'm sure she would love it. update from her daughter 9/2/2015

Mom isn't really coherent anymore, but I was lucky enough to get an "I love you" from her this morning. ❤ The hospice nurse is on her way to check up on her now. I don't think she's going to be around much longer, but Mom is always surprising me with her extraordinary will to live. She's been so brave, so strong and courageous throughout this terrible battle with cancer. I'm trying to be brave and strong for her now.

    Thanks for th update, I've been thinking about her several times a day.  Her fight spirit reminds me so much of my mom.

    so glad that she is with you. Please tell your Mom we are thinking of her and praying for her. She is a real wisdom figure on this forum.

    This is so heartbreaking.

    She is such a kind soul, always there to give advice and words of encouragement. She and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Dear Marie:

    I will miss you terribly.  I remember your extraordinary kindness to me when my George was going through this disease and after his death.  Your words to me gave me great comfort and I felt your love and kindness with every word you wrote to me.  I cherish you.

    I am so sorry this disease may be taking a very dear person away from us.   I will always remember and hold close to my heart your kindness, compassion, spitfire attitude, determination, sharing your experiences and love you have extended not only myself, but the entire colon cancer board. 

    If God determines it is your time to fly with the angels, give my George and so many others a hug.

    This is such devastating news. To Winters Daughter, your mom is the toughest person I know. You should be extremely proud of her will to live.

    So sorry to hear this

    This is such sad news.  Winter Marie has put up such a fight for so long. My thoughts are with her and her family.  I'm so glad she was able to make the trip to visit her daughter and is surrounded by those she loves and who love her.

    It looks like we're are going to lose one or our great people.  Her toughness and tenacity should be admired and emulated.  And she has inspired many of us over time.
