Depression

ive noticed myself becoming depressed and withdrawn. It first started about 5 weeks after the thyroidectomy. I've been off of Zoloft for depression for over a year and was doing great. Might this be the chemical imbalance returning or a physiological result from losing the thyroid. Anybody think it has more to do with not having a thyroid rather than regular depression or depression about having cancer? What do you all think?

It could be related I suppose. It takes about six weeks for thyroid replacement hormone to build up so after you have the thyroid removed and are working on balancing out the replacement meds things can be off for sure. Not to mention, the whole shock of dealing with cancer etc. It would probably be good to mention it to your endocrinologist. No sense feeling bad or depressed when there may well be something that can be done to help you feel better.
