My turn to wait
I had my annual scan today. This represents year two since intial dx. They did a no-contrast CT and a with contrast MRI. This was the first time I have had a MRI. Now I wait to meet with my Doctors. Monday I meet up with my urologist /surgeon and Wednesday I meet a new oncologist. With a little luck I will have llittle to meet about. My only concern is that over the last year I have picked up a chronic cough that occurs and odd intervals and is often non-productive. I have never had asthma, but i did experience my first case of bronchitis last December. Drugs have no impact and infact the worst coughing spells occur after periods of inactivity like driving or watching TV but not usually when i am sleepng. Running will bring it on mildly. So now its down to Monday before I get the scan results.
I did get the tech to tell me my GFR and it was a 54, which is pretty good for me. I celebrated the completion of my scans with 18 holes of golf. I do dislike the waiting game though.

Will keep fingers crossed for the good scans !
Could your cough be due to acid reflux?
I spent some time over the last few months in less than desireable climates while working, so I have thought that perhaps it was related to the poor air quality of these remote sites? I had never considered acid reflux as I have not had issues with that before. What bothers me most is it will go away for a few days and then out of the blue will cause a major coughing fit. Just as I think its improving it returns. What other symptoms might the acid reflux give?

With reflux, there could be heartburn, it is a major sign for common reflux version, when esophagus is affected. But there is also so called "silent reflux", when there is no heartburn, but throat suffers - there could be cough, sore throat from time to time, feeling that smth is stuck in throat. My partner and me both had silent refluxes. I had cough as a main symptom, he - feeling that something stuck in throat. This cough is due to irritation by stomach acid.
The fact that your cough comes and goes could point that your cause is intermittent, and mets are NOT intermittent ...

Wishing you the best scan results and may your hear that special word NED. Allochka makes sense with the acid reflux. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

And the wait continues....
Met with my Urologist today, but alas the radiologist reports had not been received. He did a cursory review, but I will have to wait for my meeting with the Oncologist to get official results. Lab work was good though, so some good news to hang my hat on. More on Wednesday.

Tom Petty wrote a song about this---the waiting is the hardest part.
The last 20-30 minutes in the waiting room of my doctor to review scan results is the worst. Feels like eternity.

Pos-Mental, I will remember that tomorrow while I am in the waiting room. Thanks to all for the good wishes. I feel good about things, but I will be glad to get this over with and move on. I meet with the Oncologist tomorrow afternoon.

FOX, Yes a fine draft will be in order! I think a IPA locally produced will do nicely, thanks.

Are you on Lisinopril or other BP meds? They can make you have dry throat, which produces a cough. And I found out a few years ago that I have developed a mild asthma, that gets worse with the pollen seansons.
But let's hope they find zilch, nada, zip on your test.

NED
Wow it was a long wait, and good things sometimes take time. Its a NED for me! All good with one minor hiccup....another small cyst on my remaining Kidney. The oncologist did not think the new cyst was anything to be worried about it was very small. Lungs were clear, which i had been worried about due to a chronic cough. Will probably have to have that checked out with a regular doc, but my worries are relieved. Thanks to all for their prayers and nice thoughts. Now for that IPA!!
