Survivors to the Summitt

Saturday was out annual Survivors to the Summit an awareness and fund raising activity for the Cancer Wellness House. It turned out to be a beautiful day. Weather was in the low 60's whrn we got to the Ski Resort about 745a.
It was representing all cancers, male and female as well as families who have lost someone. We have lost about 10 members of the house this past year, 3 who were part of our suppoet group. This activity is a celebration of life, and those we lost were really active and full of life til the days preceding their death.
We have breakfast up on the mountain, then eiter hike or take the tram to the top of the summitt.
This year, one of my brothers and his wife who were visiting volunteered and we had the silent auction and I did a 50/50 raffle. We more than doubled last years turnout. Makes me so thankful that I was given another year, and even more amazing is the sheer number of volunteers and the magnificant srlflessness of our community here that volunteers time, talents, and money.
Friday 3 of us made 500 pnut buttter and jelly sandwiches, and each received a full one hour body massage from a massage therapist who donates two fridays a month, 6 massages each day! We have accupunctureists, who alo donate 2 full days a month, 2 other massage therapists, Reiki, mental health therapists who do one on one counseling. I am always so amazed at the caring and giving of so many!
Sorry to go on and on. It was such a possitive experience that reminds me of all who care about us and dont even personally know us. We are blessed in so many ways .

    WOW....that sounds like a wonderful day**  It also reminds me of a time in my life when I visited Palm Desert, CA and rode the Tram to the top of the Mountain.... I can't remember the exact name of it....maybe  San Bruno?    Anyway....it certainly sounds like you had a fantastic day of fund raising and positive experiences ....especially the massages  :)  OH and also the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  I think I will go make myself one of those right this minute for lunch.   Wish I could have been there...but don't you live in CA?  I live in Florida and we don't have any mountains back this way....just sun and beaches and humidity and bugs.  Sending Prayers for continued Positive Outlook...and knowing that you are one fantastic lady.  Hugs, Glo

    Just to clarify. I was born and lived inWisconsin til 10, mover to California a month before 6th grade. after high school moved back to Wisc for just under 3 years to go to University of Wisc Madison.
    Moved back to Ca in 8/79. Then moved to Utah when my husband got a job here and have never left! Although CA still ceels like homr. I am comfortable there and have a good portion of siblings,nieces and nephews. Only thing is cant afford to live there now. The cost of my home is now triple what we sold it for....so, Unless a lottery was won it could never happen!
    I just hate the snow here!;

    Wisconsin*

    Wisconsin huh....isn't that where they call the football fans "Cheese Heads"  ?  Cool  I was born in Kentucky so we are both from what they call the Mid West a little bit  ..... We moved to Atlanta, GA when I was 5 and that's where I was raised and went to school. During my first marriage moved to Phoenix, AZ then Lancaster, TX then  Charlotte, NC then Overland Park, Kansas...then back to KY to get divorce after 13 years.  Few years later remarried (after moving to Great Falls, MT for 6 months) then Chicago area severeal years and then my husband took a job with the Bechtel Corp and we lived over 3 years each in Connecticut*Gaithersburg, MD just North of DC* San Mateo, CA and worked downtown San Francisco* Tri Cities, WA State which we left ten days before Mt St Helen's blew up in 1980* Vera Cruz, Mexico where my husband switched companies to work for EBASCO out of NYC while the Mexican Gov built it's first Nuclear Power Plant* Houston, TX area in Lake Jackson, TX* Bellevue, WA east of Seattle for 3 years * here to Florida...then back up to CT closer to NYC then back here for retirement.  :)  I have driven thru Utah several times in my life and have read a lot about that state.  I don't think I would like the harsh winters either...never want to see another snow shovel again.  I have some distant 'almost' cousins who live in Denver and am discovering more thru Ancestry dot com...but I'm not leaving the warm weather again until the Lord calls me home...which shoudn't be too long now.  Hope you had/have a nice trip with your Bro.  Hugs, Glo
