He might have thought the lump near the incision combined with the fluid might mean the possibility of cancer.  Sometimes a fluid collection is ascites from a malignancy, but sometimes it's not, too.  I'm not sure if that particular location would be one where a malignant ascites would develop.  When I had an office job in an ER, the charts just referred to "abdominal ascites" but didn't specify exactly where in the abdomen the fluid accumulated.  

I had a D&C 10 years before I developed uterine cancer, and at that time, I had thickening of the uterine wall, too, but no cancer yet.  I had a non-cancerous polyp removed at that time.  My uterus was also tipped, but as far as I know, the cervix was normally shaped.  I was 51 at the time and was three months past menopause. I know someone else who developed breast cancer in both breasts, had fluid in her abdomen, and endometrial thickening.  She thought she might have uterine cancer, too, but it turned out she didn't.  However, she has to be checked yearly just in case it develops.

I had spotting both with the first polyp, the benign one, and the second one, the malignant one.  I also had spotting from cervical polyps 6 different times and had them removed each time.

I would go for the D&C if I were you.  You'll most likely be worried the whole 6 months otherwise.  You might as well do something about it now.  My gynecologist had told me my second polyp was almost certainly benign, but it turned out I had stage IVb uterine cancer.  I had a CT scan (probably with contrast) after my D&C and that showed the cancer had spread to both ovaries, the omentum, and the small intestine.  

I had some dull cramping at times.  I thought I had celiac disease like my mother, but all my tests came out negative.  I was stumped until I started bleeding again when I was well into stage IV and my gynecologist did an ultrasound, finding the polyp.  Most people bleed at earlier stages, I guess.  At least that's what I've found from reading the comments on this site. 

The earlier you get diagnosed, the better your chances may be.  If everything turns out to be negative, you'll have some peace of mind by getting everything done now.  There's always a possibility that the lump is scar tissue from your c-section or something else like endometriosis, but the spotting is worrisome.

Good luck to you.  Try not to worry too much.  Easier said than done!  Let us know your results.

Ct of pelvis was normal, but a small nodule was discovered in the left lower lobe of lung. Had PET scan yesterday. Called docs office this afternoon to see if they had received results, after being put on hold the front desk gal came back on phone and told me the nurse would call me tomorrow to go over the results. Puzzled?  I wish I would have waited until tomorrow to call. have you had experience with PET scans?

I have had 5 PET scan within the last year and a half and have another scheduled in November.   PETs are good at finding active cancer, but sometimes like in my case, I do have a PET positive mass but it is considered mild to moderate.   They tried to biopsy the mass but they only biopsied the part that was not PET positive and that part was negative.   We have been keeping an eye on the mass for a year and a half as it was growing little by little.  It is now 6 cm (from 2.7 cm) and at first the PET reading was a 2.3 and it is now a 3.4.

What else would you like to know about PET scans?   As you know, PET scans take radioactive sugar which cancer cells like so if you have active cancer they will "light up".   A CT scan can show mass sizes, etc., but cannot always determine whether a mass is benign or cancerous.

Thank you for your response.  Just thinking the worst since they would not give me the results today over the phone, and told me the nurse will call me tomorrow yo go over the results. The doctor was straight forward with me when he ordered it, stated that the ct showed it to be suspicious of cancer.
