Mucous
Hi
I am a 42 year old female diagnosed in Feb and I finished treatment 5 fu and mytomicin c abad 30 rounds radiation at the end of May. I have my scope scheduled for Thursday to see if the treatment was successful. I am terrified and have scope anxiety. I am still having mucous come out before and during my poops. Is this normal??? Has anyone else experienced this after finishing treatment?? I am scared the cancer is still there. Thank you so much.

thank you so much.. I feel better. I am so thankful for this page. I have met several wonderful women that are in the colon cancer fight, but no one in my fight on the same treatment plan. #willwin

Have you tried calcium?
When the mucous kicks in, it reminds me to take a calcium tablet. This was suggested by a nurse practitioner. It has really helped reduce the mucous. She also suggested iron but you have to be careful not to overdo it on iron. No more than once a week if you're post menopausal - shoot, I'm thinking that may be too often.
Good luck!

Hi, I am curious as to why no more than once a week on the iron. I am 56yrs old and take one daily....after treatment 4 yrs ago I used to take twice a day until red blood count was back to normal. I will check with my doctor but have not heard this before. Thanks for the input!
