Liver Cancer
My mother-in-law who will be 92 yrs old this month was told she has stage 4 Liver cancer. I don't understand why her family doctor didn't catch this when she went for her yearly physical. She doesn't want to see anyone but her adult children. I don't understand how she didn't reconize the symtons? She did have back pain & that's why she went to her family doctor. Her family doctor sent her for a MRI & a CT scan. Her nefew researches cancer. He droved here & talked to the doctors. They showed him the films. There's nothing they can do but keep her comfortable. How did she get to stage 4 & getting physicals every year?

Liver Cancer How did she get to stage 4.hi Linda 902
Hi Linda, i am sorry about your mother in law. I don't know how helpful this will be but I have stage 4 HCC and I look and feel healthy, other than a few side effects from Nexavar. I was diagnosed with HCC in 2014 and had a liver resection in Dec. that year. On a follow up CT scan, nodules were found in my lungs that were biopsied and confirmed that the liver cancer had spread to my lungs. I don't have any symptoms other than positive CT scans and rising tumour marker levels. I just started the nexavar about 2 months ago, I had to stop for a month and restarted it 3 weeks ago. i had no contributing factors for liver cancer, no hepatitis, no cirrosis, nothing except a bit of nausea which is when the tumour was found in 2014. It seems to be a diagnosis that is easy to miss, considering how well I feel. i hope this helps.

stage 4 liver cancer (cholangcarcinoma)
my husband was diagnosed with stage4 liver cancer which is written as cholangicarcinoma) cancer of the bile ducts. he has a tumor pressing against his vein and artery which was at 13x10cm after 2 c-scans it is at 10x8cm, so i assume it is shrinking. his Ca-19 cancer marker has been decreasing tremendously from almost 600 back in jan to now it is down to 63.. i am his wife, caregiver and mom of 3 beautiful boys in which the 13 year old is still home.
