I had my port put in this morning. It went fine, but now my neck is really sore. It hurts to turn my head or lift my right arm. Is this normal?

    Hi

I also had a port put in and I do remember the area being very sore and tender for a while.  I don't recall neck pain or pain when lifting my arm though but maybe other women will chime in.  If your neck and arm are still hurting a lot tomorrow, you might want to call your doctor/oncologist to see what s/he says, just to be safe.

    Take care,

    Kelly

The soreness and hurt can be

The soreness and hurt can be normal.  The pain is from pulling as the area is healing.  However, if it continues and/or if you develope a fever of any sort, call your provider.  Did they tell you to take any over the counter pain meds?

I hope you are feeling fine today.

    Still some pain

it still hurts this morning, especially when I first got out of bed. I realized that the weight of my breast pulling on it was what hurt the most this morning. Once I put on a bra, that was better. I have my first chemo tomorrow, so they will have to remove the bandage.  I'm curious to see if that helps.

It can be tender during that

It can be tender during that first chemo treatment, so don't be surprised.   I would ask if you could take an over the counter med before you go for your treatment.  It could help with the soreness

    Better now

I had my first chemo treatment today and they took the bandage off. It feels much better. No bad effects from the chemo yet. Fingers crossed.
