VERY SORE THIGH MUSCLES

My thigh muscles are killing me! I have stage 3A breast cancer and did the A/C/T chemo plan. I finished chemo on Jan. 27th.  Taxol was very hard for me on the first round which was a three week dose at once. I had 8 days of horrible bone pain in my legs. They switched me to once a week doses and it was easier to tolerate for sure. I had major neuropathy in my toes. I started my 34 rounds of radiation in Feb. I noticed I had a hightened pain in both hips that I didn't have until after that treatment. I thought it was odd and it got worse to the point of them having to put a gel pad down for me to rest my toosh on while getting treatment.  My hips have for the most part gotten better, my toes are back to about 90% feeling but my THIGHS ARE KILLING ME and its getting worse by the day! My leg strength is much weaker now and I have to walk sideways down stairs so I won't fall. WHAT THE HECK? I'm only 44 years old. I would never change treatment for a second though because I am in remission now. It's not that I am far out of treatment and I would NEVER change the treatment I had done. Wonderful, scary and bold journey's must be taken when it calls for it. I am just at the point where I need to re-address this with my doctors so I know what's going on with me.  I had a 6 month handicap placerd that has recently expired and I put in a call to have it extended until this gets resolved with my musclces. My Onc said I didn't need it renewed that I should be fine now. HUH?!  I haven't seen him in 7 weeks and I have documented this pain since my first radiation and priorly from the Taxol. I love my doctor but am on the fence as to his reasons for denying me this when he issued the placard 6 months ago. SO, my nurse who runs the lab department told me that he knows of my complaints early on and he knows I had a horrible reaction to Taxol with major leg problems and said he is going to go in with me and we are all going to have a sit down with my ONC to get this situation resolved.

Please pray for me because I really like my ONC but his decision to not renew is baffeling. In the meantime , what is this thigh pain all about??

Hugs,

Bonnie

    Those pills are nasty

Bonnie so sorry you are having such a bad time with your meds.  I found eating two small continers of yogurt each day and one avacado then chased it with a grapefruit all my pains went away.  I also ate one sweet potato every other day.  All the chemicals from chemo and then hormone pills deplete the potassium and bananas just wouldn't work.  Study your body and it will let you know what it needs.  Please keep us updated.

    NO expericnce with Taxol but

NO expericnce with Taxol but while on  i was on Tamoxifin I had wicked calf cramps at night- MY dr said not related, but, I have been off the Tamoxifin for about a year now and I have only had 2-3 cramps (NIGHT TIME ONLY) the whole year verse 5 nights a week on avg.

I took magnesium and it helped-not sure if it would help your symptoms or not.

Bonnie ... Can you contact Oncologist office

and INSIST on getting in to see him ASAP ..   Do not allow your Onc to get away with 'normal', or "bell standard" side effect ..   We are individuals = and chemo seeps into our body via an IV - so side effects are IMMEDIATE .. and last a very long time.

Taxol is chemotherapy drug that enters our system via IV = Please get help immediately!!!
