My sister was dx 3+ weeks ago
She was still waiting on pathology from the lumpectomy. If the sentenial lobe andplus one are clear, then she will have rads. If not, they will decide then.
She has been so supportive and helpful with me these last years. She has asked me many questions, given me input, and I have been very open thru it all. I was crushed when she told me . This had been a hard journey and the last thing I ever wanted to hear was that any one of my sisters would go thu this. She is 20 months older than me.
I have been so careful in what I say. This is her journey and I do not want her to feel as thou I am making it mine. We both had IDC, er+ pr +, and she is her2 +1. I was IDC er+, pr+, her2 +2. Grade 3. and the cancer at orig dx/surgery had gone beyond the tumor. So it was very agressive.
I am BRCA negative, had it redone in a bc genetics research study that I was asked to be in bcuz of all my sublings w/csncer .
Last appt. showed my markers still going up, not fast, 5-7 points at a time. Back and leg pain is increasing. I am moving in with my son and his gf. They bozught a home and no one wants me to live alonr. It is 100 yrs old with orig. details, but that also comes with a lot of work.
Bdrms are smaller than I am used to so have spent the last month deciding what I really need. Hard to give up some of it....mostly feel like with this goes a little more of my independence. My legs are getting more painful... Onco says this is normal as it progressins in the bones... but 6 months will be 5 years in Sept. so I am not complaining.
I just keep telling myself,

So sorry!
Carol, I am so sorry to hear that your sister was diagnosed and is now going through breast cancer too. Still, I am sure having you there to advise and guide is probably incredibly comforting to her. She has been there for you, and now (unfortunately) you will be there for her. I hope that she only needs rads and her journey with breast cancer will be over for her there. I can understand how moving in with your son and his girlfriend makes you feel as though you are losing your independence, but how nice that you get to do that! I moved my parents in with me two years ago because my mother's illness was really taking a toll on my father. They had to get rid of a lot of stuff (as did I) to make it work. Their bedroom is also on the small side but other than that, things have worked out quite nicely. It has been really wonderful to have this time with my parents - and I know that they feel the same. So, I hope things work out nicely for you and your family as well. Lastly, I hope that your numbers get stable again and that your pain decreases. You have dealt with so much and a period of stability would be really fantastic. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it happens right away!

Sorry
Carol, I'm sorry to hear your sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. Hopefully, it can be managed with surgery and radiation. If not, she certainly has an expert sister to help her with decisions.
I think I'd have mixed emotions about moving in with one of my sons. On the one hand, it's going to be good for you to have help with things especially since you're having more pain in your legs. On the other hand, of course it's a loss of independence -- you're no longer living on your own. And downsizing, wow, that's always hard to decide what to bring, what to leave.
Big changes for you.
xoxo

Terrible news, so sorry. She has a great sister to help her through this, you are in my thoughts, Anna
Carol,
I am very sorry about your sister. I hope pathology will be good enough to avoid mastectomy and chemo. i am sure you will provide her exceptional support and help during her journey.
Sorry that your pain legs has been progressing are climing up. there is new oral option Ibrance, however it did work for me only for 2 months and supressed my bone marrow low RBC and plateles.
Congratulations with your son new house. It is exciting, while loosing independence, you might something special about living together. Can you sk for some storage area outside of your bedroom, so you do not have to through your important things away?
I do not have big achivements: Halaven is too tough for me. We had initial response, we very happy and lately markers are up again. I stopped look at my blood work, just asking my doctor:is it better or worse? i had 3 blood transfusios in two months.
Plase keep usposted.

this is certainly a lot of news, Carol. So sorry to read about your sister. I hope it all goes well for her and those nodes are clear and her prognosis is a good one. Too many worries.
I hope the move in with your son and gf turns out to be a good move. You have been so close to your sons and you cared for them for many years. Even though you will be more dependent on them, it will also be a loving caring thing that you do by being with them and relieving them of some of the responsibilities that accompany their worry about you. I don't know if I said that right - I meant that while you will be more dependent on them, you are still, as a mom, caring for them. Or something like that.
Let us know how all of this goes.
My best to you and yours,
Suzanne

I'm sorry to hear about your sister, as well. Sounds like you have a wonderful son! You'll compromise and make it work. It will be fine, and you'll have someone around when you need help. Good luck with sorting for the move. That's the hardest part. Hugs, Linda
