in Anal Cancer #1

I rarely read this forum anymore since, like most of us, I turned to these discussions only when I had problems. Hence, my reason for writing. Although I experienced a multitude of health issues during the first two years post treatment, I now feel better that ever. I eat anything I want, exercise daily and have plenty of energy. I can honestly say that I have no post radiation or chemo side effects. (I am 67 an was diagnosed in the spring of 2011). Of course, things could change, especially since I am not getting any younger but, for now, things are wonderful. I am not boasting and I have a great deal of sympathy for those of you who are suffering. It is my goal to offer you hope that things will get better. Best wishes for health and happiness to all.

    So good to hear!

    I am so glad survivors come back to check in and share their good news.  I am two years post treatment (March 2013) and was always encouraged to hear of people who have been through treatment and were living "normal lives."  I have what I consider minor side effects (mostly frequency and urgency at times) but nothing to complain about.  I'm grateful to be well and consider this as something that happened to me a while ago (it took almost to years to feel this way.)

    Thank you both for sharing your good news!  When I first started coming to the discussion boards I always looked for long term survivors and it helped me when I saw them post.  I have been NED since 6-30-09, so I am coming up on my 6 year cancer free aniversary for anal cancer.  On 9-23-15 I will celebrate my 5 year cancer free aniversary for stage 1 lung cancer, which was found on a follow up scan for the anal cancer.  I wish us all well and continued good news.

    Thanks for sharing.   It is good to hear that there is some light after treatment.   It seems like such a long journey!

    for sharing! Tomorrow I will be 2 years and five months post treatment. I have what I consider minor problems related to treatment. Recently had a scare, but tests still indicate NED. I too hold onto the hope and encouragement from long timers.
