Anyone had their gall bladder removed while undergoing treatment? And anyone get ureter stents inse
Not as part of your original surgery but later due to gallstones? How was the surgery performed and how long was the recover? On the stent side - same questions. I have gallstones and during the ultrasound and ct scans it was discovered that my kidney and a met on it are pushing on the uereter and against my back. So they want to insert a stent to ensure it stays open. Just looking for some feedback. Thanks ladies! Anne

Ureter Stent
Hi Anne:
Since August of 2014 I have had a left ureter stent. I have to have it replaced every 3 months. So every three months I have to go to my PCP to get a chest x-ray and blood work prior to my out-patient procedure. I have to say that the stent was a real relief as I kept telling them I wasn't feeling right. My blood pressure went up and I had bad headaches and fatique. Although I did not present the typical symptoms of a block kidney, (pain, etc), after a two months wait, my kidney was already starting to decrease function. I have had the stent replaced 4 times already. I may go in and have a stent bypass surgery or have surgery to remove the 6 cm soft tissue mass which the ureter presently goes through. I meet with both my urologist and my gyn/onc in two weeks to discuss all options.

That helps! I haven't had a treatment for roughly six weeks as we were cleansing me out for a clinical trial and I couldn't understand why I was so beat! The gallstones happened and in the course of scans etc saw what was going on with my kidney. How long did that procedure take and was it a same day surgery? From what they have suggested it would need to be replaced once a year or so.
I am hoping they can do both surgeries at the same time.
Keeping you in my prayers! Anne

Anne, I knew Kathy would be able to help and, of course, she didn't disappoint. She is very generous with her experience.
Are you still going to be eligible for the clinical trial? What trial are you going to be entered in?

Cabozantinib - due to solid metastatic tumors and uterine cancer. Eliminated due to tumor adjacent to my heart. (City of Hope)
The rest of the trials are based on my genone test results and targeting specific mutations I carry but are based on again my having solid metastatic tumors. And now I am being approved for trials not specific to just uterine cancer.
BMS 986115 -targeting a Notch inhibitor I carry. The trial is currently full. (USC Norris)
CC 9003 ST 001 -this goes after RAS mutated malignancies. I carry the HRAS gene mutation (affects less than 1 percent of the population) so they petitioned to have the trial expanded to include HRAS but it was denied. Doctors are hoping this will be expanded in next phase. (Cedars Sinai)
VS 5584 101 - go after P13k/mtor inhibitor. Wait listed. (Cedars Sinai)
Open Label Study of aldoxorubicin plus Gemcitabine for solid metastatic tumors. This option would only be used as a placeholder until they found something else. I am wait listed for it. (Cedars Sinai)
If I have surgery that will set me back about three to six months, I will be put on another infusion routine for three rounds, then cleansed again in preparation for a trial. I will know about surgery tomorrow and am bummed as we have a family reunion with my brothers planned for next week. We get together every other year as we are spread across the country now.
Staying strong and looking forward to next steps! Anne

Yes. It is same dayHi Anne:
Yes. It is same day surgery. My stent is one that needs replaced every three months but I have heard of once a year ones too. I do have to say that the stent can be a little uncomfortable especiallly the first day you get it in. I was able to take tylenol once I got home and laid in bed and it seemed to help. They do give you some drugs (one for pain, one for stent discomfort, and one for bladder spasms). I didn't want to use them so I only used tylenol.
I see my doctors next week, so I will give you an update. I hope all is going well with you.

I see the doctors today and am hoping they can do both the stent and gall bladder at the same time. We'll see! I will keep you posted.
