Sorry to hear thisNoTimeForCancer said:flyerette, I truly can
flyerette, I truly can sympathize with you on hospice adminstration. At 2 o'clock in the moring I was calling the hospital nurse, who really was our advocate telling her we knew my dad was dying, because hospice wanted to move my dad out to a private facility!!! When this lovely lady walked in to my dad's room the next day she said she had gotten my call and he was staying put. He died later that evening.
I know hospice can be such a good thing, it was the administration that took that away.
I am so sorry. It really doesn't matter how old they are, it is a loss. I agree with you I wish they would CURE cancer.
Sorry to hear this Flyerette!
There is nothing worse than losing your mom. I was 53 when mine died, and that was over 5 years ago.
I still miss her everyday! The loss makes you feel like a child almost - 'I want my mom & she is not here.'
Everytime I see an older woman w/her elderly mother at the store, beach, wherever...I still think how lucky they are.

So sorryflyerette65 said:Bad Month
Sounds like it has been a bad month for everyone especially RO10 and Molimoli. My 94 year old mom died on June 9th. I kept her at home and was with her til the end. Hospice was a joke. Although they sent such caring nurses and aides, truly saintly women, the administrative part was awful. They wanted to pull continuous care off mom at 8PM Monday night and she died 10 hours later. I've never seen anyone pass before and it was very spiritual, I know she's in a better place. Her lobular carcinoma of the breast metastized to the small intestine, the oncologist gave her 1-2 years, she lived 1 year, and 8 months. I wish they would find a cure for cancer. Although mom lived a very long life, it's still hard to lose your mom, the best friend most of us will ever have.
So sorry to hear about your mom.. i lost my mom 3 years ago at age 93. I still miss her so much even though i know she is in heaven She chose the hymn "Heaven is my home" to be sung at her funeral. I go between wanted my mommy to talk to and glad I don't have to tell her about my cancer. My dad died from cancer 55years ago and I would hate to have to tell her about me. It is so hard to lose your mom Hang on to all the happy memories. The hurt will get less but it still will be there. Prayers and hugs from Lou Ann

Thank you all for the kind words. We had a beautiful service for her, the priest had so many wonderful comments about my mom, everyone commented on his sermon. I couldn't cry during the visitation, funeral or burial b/c I knew she was in a better place, and, also, because I didn't have any tears left in me. Mom and I had many meaningful conversations in the 10 days before she died, so I feel closure in that I got to say everything I wanted to tell her. Cancer sucks no matter what age you are when diagnosed. I'm sorry that so many of you are having such difficulty at this time, but you are all such troopers and have great attitudes. That tells me what courageous women we have on this board and even though we will never meet in person I feel I know all of you well. I've been lucky with my USPC diagnosis so far but you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop and I've had several very serious scares. God bless all of you!
