Hi,

Although I've had numerous other concerns this is a new one to me. The chills, flu-like feeling, swelling, red, and warm to the touch butt is puzzeling. It does sound like some sort of infection and I would try to get in to the doctor to have it checked out. As we all know, its always better to error on the side of caution rather than to wait until something minor turns into a major problem. Please keep us posted as you learn more.

Flare-ups from the herpes virus can present in strange ways.  I know when I get one I always have a day when I feel as if I am getting the 'flu and am very depressed and then I will get the sore(s), often in a new part of the genito/anal area.  I always wonder which is cause and effect - did I get a flare because I was depressed and feeling flu-ey or did I have the bad day because I was starting a flare?  Anyway, just a thought.

jeez I hope it's not something like that!  I've never been tested but prob because I've been married for 26 years to a man I hope has been faithful cause I sure have been. I don't really have sores per say, but half my butt cheek is swollan  and enflamed .  It also spread around to the front of the leg as one big red tender area.   I did go to doctors and they seem to think its cellulitis.  I have to go everyday for antibiotics. Today was my second dose. I sat there for 3.5 hours for a 30 sec dose. Oh well it could be worse. Atleast I have health care right!  I'm gonna research the herpes virus right now. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply any disrespect.  I forget that not everyone had my checkered youth .  Only herpes can, and does, lie dormant for decades, suddenly popping up as shingles or other nasty rashes, though that one is the chicken pox version of herpes.  Anyway, I hope that it is only cellulitis (I am going to have to look that one up) and easily treated.  We have enough crap to deal with without adding these lovely extras.  Good luck with getting rid of whatever it is and quickly!

 

 I didn't take your info as disrespect at all. If I thought that way I would have never responded back to you or maybe just thanked you. I can either take the information further or just leave it alone right. To me any info is worth looking in to!  You never know it could have been that.  I read up on it and it does flare up in weird ways!  Thanks again !!.... Pem
