Scan Results
The oncoloist called yesterday and said the lung nodules are stable, no growth, but the liver tumor will need an MRI. CT scans, for some reason, don't show the whole picture. She thinks it either grew or there are more tumors on the liver, but won't know for sure until the MRI is done. If the tumors grew or there are additional tumors, she'd like him back on 5-fu. Before she can do that, he needs to have an echocardiogram to see if his heart has gotten stronger and can tolerate it. She said they won't give him the pump, but will do it at the office when he gets his regular chemo treatments.
I am leaving to visit the grandbabies for 10 days so my sister has to deal with all of this. As much as I'd rather be the one to take care of all of this, I have to let it go and give myself a break. After moving them again, I am exhausted. My concern is that my sister is not me and will do things when she wants to do them. She has other priorities in her life and doesn't really have the same feelings about this as I do. The doctor wants the MRI done within a week but she is saying her schedule won't allow it so it will have to wait for the following week. I am frustrated, annoyed and worried. I can't reschedule because my trip is paid for. I don't understand why others feel it's not their responsibility to help out but will drop everything for their friends or their spouse's family. I'm sorry that I'm rambling on here, but I'm kind of pissed that I can't go away without worrying about whether my sister will do the right thing. UGH!!!

The good and bad news.
I am sorry that your brother isn't NED. We all deserve to be NED. I hope that his next tests will identify what is going on in the liver.
I am so happy to hear that you are going down to see your grandbabies. You certainly deserve to be enjoying them, and letting your sister take on some of the responsibility. I hope she gets your brother to his necessary appointments in a timely fashion.
I hope that you are able to relax and not overly worry about what it happening back home.
Take care.

I'm so excited to see the grandbabies. I'll have to trust that my sister does the right thing. I can't do everything by myself.
I hope all is well with you.

I'm sorry the results weren't more positive, Lin...
how is your brother's overall health at this point? Hopefully he can handle more treatment and they can get things back under control. Poor guy.
Enjoy your break...you've definitely earned it!

Can you get help from another source?
Is there someone else that might be able to take him to this appointment? A friend or another relative? That way he doesnt have to wait. I remember there was a volunteer group that would help take cancer paticents for scans or chemo, is there anything like that in your area? I would call his ONC they might know of such a service, cant hurt to ask.
Good Luck and enjoy those grandbabies.

My brother is feeling well. His cardiologist put him on Digoxin, so the last echo he had, they saw improvement in the function of the heart. If the echo shows good results, she will place him on the 5-FU again, but he will get it via IV, not with the pump like he had in the past. I guess this will be a lower dose and they can monitor him.
Keep your fingers crossed!

BethI have his transportation set up for chemo and blood work, it's a standing order that I set up, but when it comes to testing, he likes one of us to be there with him. I think it's because everytime he has to go, there's paperwork to be filled out, and with his disability, he has a lot of trouble with it. I am waiting to hear back from my sister. If she won't do it, my daughter will drive up here to take them. Yes, I heard the American Cancer Society has volunteers and some of the senior agencies as well. I have to look into that for future reference.
I can't wait to see the grandbabies in person. Skype is a blessing, but I cn't hug and kiss them through the internet. I wish they all lived closer.
Hugs,
Lin
